Please email me if you can suggest any good psychiatrists in the Phila area (preferably in the the DelCo area).

I'm having a difficult time finding one.

Thanks.

Oh, Jen, I wish you didn't live so far.  I actually see a Dr. Katherine Kaplan in Southampton.  She is with Southampton Psychiatric Associates.  And she is just awesome.  I saw her for my pre-op psych eval and started to see her after my surgery.  She is just so wonderful.  And she only does nights, because she recently had a baby.  Sometimes I coordinate it with the post-op meetings.  Because she has Wednesday night hours.  So sometimes my appointments are at 5:30 or 5:45 and then I go right to the meeting.  If you do decide to see her, maybe you could coordinate it like that.

Sorry I can't be of more help.  I'm sure someone will be able to help you.  Oh, you know what, my girlfriend is from DelCo.  I will ask her.  I know she's seen a couple people and her boyfriend is a general surgeon.  So I'm sure between the two of them they know of someone.  I will PM you later.

Karen

He's got experience with WLS patients...sorry he's not in the immediate area.

I'd be happy to gie you the name of a quack in Altoona who crochets while you spill your guts, then tells you your issue with food stem from a fear of relationships.

Dr. Debra Haldeman.

The limited sessions I had with her were a complete and utter waste of time and money.

Someone told me she specialized in food issues, but she out-of-hand dismissed my issues and kept steering me to a prognosis she pegged onto me for reasons I don't fathom to this very day.

Ahh yes.  I am well aware.  I see Mary Wiley - she has had the surgery and specializes in eating disorders and she is amazing.  Altoona is a one horse town and that is why I would rather handle most of my medical care in pgh.

Jen, I don't know what kind of insurance you have but with Blue Cross you can call them and they will give you a list of doctors in your area and their specialty.
Good Luck to you!
Michele
