I have my 9 month visit tomorrow and I haven't been keeping a food journal.  I've also not been eating what I should.  I'm goinng to  write down what i ate yesterday and I will write down everything today, but I am shamefully short on my protein everyday.

Any suggestions?

You only have to take 2 days worth of food logs so right down what you had yesterday and today ..be honest let the nut review it and let her know  you are struggling with protein. You will not get punished they will just review the protein need with you . Good Luck tomorrow!

Angela,
You bad bad girl!
Just kidding!
Beth is right - just put down what you had yesterday and today and be honest.
The nut can help you figure out how to meet your protein goals - that is what she is there for.
Maybe this will help you get back on track to eating the foods you should be having.

I know, I'm terrible right?? I can't belive I let this happen.  Ususally I clean up my act a couple of days before my review.  ( I know, I know. That's not good either.)  This time, I'm just not prepared.  I should look at this as an opportunity to reconnect with my WL tool.

Thanks for the quick response!!

Angela,
Your fantastic friend is going to help you out here. I will be your sponser and you can be my sponser. I am on the daily plate thanks to you and it does give me almost all the foods I eat everyday and I can at a glance see if I have met my protein goals or not. I am at 83 grams and my goal is 70. Let me see your food journel and I will let you peak at mine. I have been doing a lot of Soy and low-fat dairy products and have been doing well. That is not to say that the weight is coming down but the inches sure are. PM me if interested.

OK, my food journal is up and up to date.  How do I show it to you? and How in the WORLD are you up to 83 already.

I'm at 71 and that is only beacause I ate my "protein spritzer" It's a container of new whey liquid protein and sugar free tonic water. LOL.  It almost tastes like soda I don't really like soda, but it's a  little treat.  It definately doesn't taste like protein.

HELP.

Oh, by the way, I need help with exercise too.  when do you exercise? I dont' do that either. I'm such a slouch.

THANKS... you're the best!

Angela,
Email me what you eat thru the daily plate to my email at [email protected] or my home email [email protected]. I set my alarm at 5:30 and get on my elliptical for 45 minutes to an hour and pretty much eat all day long. I also use Any Whey in almost everything from my yogurt in the morning and top it off with Kashi cereal which is 39 grams just for breakfast. Then I added another any whey scoop to my chicken and brown rice soup which was another 26 grams then I had a cheese stick which is 7 grams and one glass of soy milk which was another 8grams. I then had sf popsicle which was another 2. It really is easy if you plan what you are going to eat ahead of time. Also you have to get moving I walk an hour on my lunch I usually eat a banana before I go walking and then eat my lunch at my desk when I come back from lunch. I have a great pedometer that keeps 7 days of record on how much walking I do its by Omron I have an extra one I can give it to you at the next meeting. It's a good one I make sure I get at least 10,000 steps in the day. Angela make sure you are moving you will not see the results until you incorporate exercise and cardio into your daily routine.

I agree w/ everyone else - be honest - because lying doesn't do anybody, especially you, any good.

As far as your question of protein - I do a LOT of non fat dairy and such...here are my staples and I can normally get in at least 75gm of protein a day:

1/2 cup nonfat ricotta cheese = 20 gm (Lately I've been having 3/4 cup for 30gm)  I sweeten it w/ splenda and cinnamon for a dessert like taste or heat it w/ spaghetti sauce and mozz cheese (add in even more protein!) for a lasagna like taste

2 mozz cheesesticks (2%) = 16gm

6 ounces nonfat chanobi greek yogurt = 18gm (sweeten w/ splenda and fruit, sf davinci syrup & berries, a little crystal lite powder or sf jello crystals)

Chicken 3 ounces = app 21gm

Beef 3 ounces = app 24gm

Here's a sample menu:

B:  2 cheesesticks = 16gm
S:  Greek Yogurt =18gm
L:  Salad w/ 3 ounces chicken = 21gm (sometimes I add some shredded cheese)
S:  South Beach Protein Bar = 10gm
D:  Meatballs w/ sauce and cheese 25gm minimum
S:  3/4 cup ricotta cheese = 30gm
Total = 120gm

Another Idea
B:  Greek Yogurt 18gm
S:  Fruit w/ 2 tablespoons PB = 8gm
L:  Chilli w/ either lean ground beef or ground turkey = 21gm
S:  Skim Plus Milk w/ no sugar added carnation instant breakfast 16gm (11 from milk, 5 from CIB)
D:  Chicken seasoned w/ fajita seasoning and sauteed w/ veggies, topped w/ cheese 25gm
S:  SF Fudge Pop 3gm
Total:  88gm

Other ideas....
Lean deli meat roll ups (in lettuce) w/ some low fat cream cheese or mayo most deli meats like turkey and what not (good quality ones like boars head) are about 10gm for 2 ounces.  Add a cheesestick and you've got 18gm

Do you read the daily menu post started here every day?  That might help you come up with some ideas.  Dr. P isn't a huge fan of using shakes and bars to supplement on a daily basis - but it's better than not getting your protein in.

Hang in there - and what I always tell myself when I find myself not being  a "good" girl - I did not risk my life by going under anesthesia to not play by the rules.  if I wanted to risk my life and cheat my life away, I would have stayed with my old eating and exercise habits.

I'm sure the nut and Dr. P will give you some good advice.
