I'm an absolute mess and am eating like my old self again.

I've gained 8 lbs since the beginning of September.

One more pound will put me out of my own maintenance goal range.

I am working out...running, spinning, pilates...but not enough I guess.

I am depressed.

I don't know what to do.

Alright sweetie - It'll be OK - you've recognized the problem now we need to work to fix it! that's all!

First - what are you eating? Maybe this is a good time for the 5 day pouch test or a "back to basics". Are you getting in your protein? Fluids? Vitamins? Sounds like you are still working out so congrats on that!

What is causing you to eat more? Are you stressed? depressed? bored?

We're here to help!!! Stay strong - you haven't lost, you've only had a setback!

As Liz said it's going to be okay, you posted and you're aware and that's the most important step (realizing and reaching out for support).  I agree with Liz, back to basics - how about doing full liquids again for a short time to take the focus off food?  Also, I have found that it helps me to have a list of the reasons why I had the surgery on the refrigerator but since you are so far out maybe a list of the things that you've been able to benefit from/enjoy?  Like crossing your legs (I CAN'T WAIT to be able to do that!) or some of your other wows over the year?  You've gotten this far - you'll get this taken care of too.  Eating is such a fundamental way to deal with things so you've hit a bump, focus on what you can learn from this bump and see yourself on the other side of it.  You'll work through it - and definitely call your therapist, maybe an extra session would be a good thing right now.  I'm cheering you on and believe in you.

Hey Jen,
Along with the helpful thoughts from our friends Liz and Keri, I think you need a meeting. I think I need to see you this Wednesday night @ Barix. What do ya say? It has been a while and we do need to be seen sometimes. Accountability works and you'll never be sorry. If you have gained you can't ru**** away. Stick to eating the way you should and continue working out the way you have and it will leave, but not quickly. Patience now because you've done the bulk of the work already. Hope to see you Wednesday.

Hey Jen,
First off, long time no see/talk.  It upsets me that you are struggling as I, too, have recently went through this.  I need to jump on Dennis's back with this, as it was him and the rest of the fine folks at Barix last month that have be back on track.  He hit the nail right on the head - accountability!!!

It old the group that since I moved to Maryland that I had stopped attending those Barix meetings and lost touch with the group here on the PA board.  I had no one to answer to.  It was easy to just throw on some loose clothing and not get on the scale.  It was too easy to just ignore the problem.  I also fell off the exercise bandwagon, which, as you know, is huge for me.  It still ****** me off because I was supposed to run the Baltimore half marathon this past weekend, but I wasn't ready for it.

The good thing Jen, is that I got right back on the wagon.  I immediately started eating right again and got back on the exercise wagon.  I joined a gym down here and now I'm in the middle of training for the Philadelphia Marathon at the end of November.  None of this would have been possible if I didn't let my friends at Barix give me a little wake up call last month.  Although I won't be at Wednesday's meeting, things are back where they belong.  Sorry I won't be there, but the Phillies play the Dodgers in game 5 of the NLCS and its been 15 years since they've made it this far and who knows how long it will be before they do it again.

Dennis is right Jen.  If you can get there Wednesday, do yourself a favor and go.  I wish I could be there to talk to you, but I'm sure our paths will cross again.  Take care and good luck with everything.

Thanks Andy.  I only missed last months meeting because of the start of the school year. And I had a school obligation Wed night, but after reading your and dennis' posts, I cancelled going.

My committment to work is what's putting me in this hole in the first place.  So I am hoping to be there Wednesday.

I ran my ass off today and ate well...hoping that helps a little.

I am under so much stress and transition...and I'm taking it out on myself.  You are all right....it's not fair considering all the work I've done.  I've totally let food get the best of me right now and that's not how it should be.

Last week I chugged an entire bottle of wine in 45 min  to deal with the stress...becuase I cant eat a pint of Ben and Jerry's ....that's not how it should be either.

I am a sick girl in need of some serious help...I know that. I dont know what else to do except to keep reaching out for support, therapy and fighting in the meantime.

It's brutal!
