Hi everyone,

Here's a quick update on my son. He's being released from the outpatient program after tomorrow. He will return to school on Thursday. They have started a new med for the bipolar. They also rediagnosed him. They are thinking now that he is not ADHD, but are diagnosing Asberger's or someother autistic spectrum disorder. After we stablize his mood, this is something we have to work on with his regular psychiatrist.

Things are definately better with his rages. Last night he actually handled a punishment w/o flipping out too bad. I was very impressed.

Thank you all for your continued prayers.

Heather,

I'm glad he is doing better!!  Also glad that they are looking into other diagnosis.  I tend to think (and this is just my opinion) that to many "experts" are willing to put a label of ADHD on any child who acts out be it daily or occassionally.  Good luck with the further work!

Heather,
Thanks for the update on Robbie.
I can not imagine how hard all this must be for you.
I am glad to hear that he is going to return to school.
Hopefully the new meds will work for him.
You both will be in my prayers.

Hi Heather,

Glad to hear that Robbie's diagnosis is being re-evaluated, as Pam said, I think all too often that labels are put on children without taking into consideration all the possibilities.  I know a few people with children that have Asberger's syndrome and with early detection and the right intervention, their chances to live full and productive lives are very good.

My prayers continue for you and I hope you are taking care of you in all of this. . .

Hugs, Laureen

Wow, I know we talked about Asbergers.  It's amazing as that is exactly what happened with my friend Jenny and her son.  I hope they are able to find the correct dose of medication for him.
