Yummy Protein Find!

So as I'm sure I dont have to tell anyone finding yummy/tolerable protein sources in liquid form can be a challenge.  However tonight I have found one I really ENJOY!

OK so it's not killer amounts of protein, but 10G in an 8oz serving isn't too shabby.

Bolthouse Farms Perfectly Protein Vanilla Chai Tea. It's all natural no added sugar and freaking GOOD! I was never a soy or chai person, but this is just scrumptous. Kinda tastes like eggnog.

 It does have a tiny amount of caffeine, but less than 1MG. (a cup of coffee has 115mg)

I found it in the fresh veggie section.

I have seen these in the grocery store but never picked them up...probably because of the price (are they a little rediculous on the price??).  I will definitely pick one up though next time I am at the store.  Thanks for the heads up.

160 calories in an 8oz serving. For me at this point since I barley can get anything in there the calories are irrelevant - but they may be a lot for others further out.

I'm not an RNY patient, but isn't  21g Sugar to much for most?  I thought an RNY friend of mine was told to stay under 5g.

As long as in the ingredient list it does not have certain sugars "we RNY" folk (from Barix) can have it.  And when I say "can have it" I mean "we'll most likely not experience dumping syndrom".

What does "certain sugars" mean?   Are you speaking about if they come naturally from juice or something then they are ok?

Correct.  Fruits and milks have natural sugars in them.  A dannon lite and fit yogurt, for example (made with splenda) has anywhere between 5-12gm of sugar in it.  If in the first five ingredients it does not have: sugar, molasses, honey, corn syrup, sucrose etc it is ok for us to have.  Most do not dump off of it.  Things like fruit juices are allowed (again, no added sugar) but some have problems with that and have to dilute it or stay away from it (I believe it is Trish who dumps on OJ every single time)
