"31 WHOLE days"

Certain conversation from earlier had me thinking over my lunch period.
Why SHOULDN'T I (or anyone else with less or more time) feel proud and successful after a mere 31 days since surgery???

The beginning stages of the post-op diet are really tough to stick to... sometimes it's a struggle just to get enough in or to stay hydrated.  Personally, I even had a hard time sitting, standing, walking, etc... (open procedure).

I would never minimize anyone's time into this surgery.  I would even commend those simply looking into the possibilities of WLS surgeries!

So, please, allow me to take this opportunity to applaud all "newbies" here on the board!!
Keep up the great work!

And if those with more time in are right (God willing, they are)... things will get better and easier!!

((hugs))

Congrats to you. Be very proud of yourself. It does get easier. But there are also days that are tough as hell. But that's life. With or without WLS thrown in the mix.

Happy 1 month!!

When life hands you lemons, ask for tequila & salt and give me a call!

31 days of successing is something to celebrate that for sure! Some days I think that 31 seconds of successing is worth celebrating!

The best thing about this fabulous PA board is that we are a strong amazingly tight knit group of people that will "Wow" with you, cry with you, success with you and kick you in the ass when you need that too! Norm is our numero uno ass kicker when you need it kind of guy - but he'll also be the first to pat you on the back for a job well done!

Keep up the great work SHannon and I look forward to sharing many more Wow's with you!

Huzzah!

I don't normally say that.

LOL.

I remember my first month. I honestly don't know how in the WORLD I got through it. Being in the 370-360s, giving myself injections in my stomach every day, being on a liquid diet. It may have been morphine residue or sheer exhaustion, but I really don't know how I got through that month!!

Kudos and best wishes to you!

I apologized privately to Shannon for being unnecessarily sarcastic (by even my standards), but am reiterating my apology to the board. My intention was never to marginalize her progress, merely to make a point.

I don't know the intimate details of anybody's journey other than my own, but I've taken the car off the road a few times (if you'll pardon the lame analogy), and if see someone driving fast into a hard turn, I'm going to yell "slow down!" (lame analogy, one more time).

Making a list of people I've talked to who think I'm a royal ass would be easy. But making a list of people who will admit that I've given them honest, truthful, and useful advice would be even easier.

Norm you could add me to the second list. You gave me the kick in the ass early on in my journey when I needed it. At the time I was like whoaaaa but at the end of the day grateful for the support.

Keep being you!

3rd me. Norm has saved me a number of times with his advice.

Oh boy - I like that last paragraph.  I'm afraid I'm going to shamlessly plazerize that someday soon!

You're absolutely right, Shannon - every day is a day to be proud, and 31 days post-op is a biggie! The first few months are the toughest but now I truly believe what everyone out here and my surgeon told me - once you hit that 3 month mark you'll be amazed at how your body has adjusted and changed. This is a very invasive, life-altering surgery, so every day is a good day following it -- even the tough ones. But it is definitely worth any pain and/or misery we may feel along the way. Thru foamies, dumping, stalls and everything else it is still worth it.

Congratulations on reaching 31 days and not losing your mind!! LOL!! I think one of the things I love best about these boards and the support groups I attend is that everybody KNOWS what you're going thru and can appreciate things like loving something one day - hating it the next. People staring at you because you're eating so little yet are so big - I felt that a lot when I started eating in restaurants - and then there was always the wait staff (and still is) concerned that your food is okay because you've left so much on your plate!

Its a wonderful journey and every day I feel like I'm just beginning because every day is different.

Yes, you should be proud of the first 31 days..This journey is a wild ride the first few weeks I would be happy as can be and in tears for no reason what so ever the next. It is emotion filled and then we are trying to readjust to our new life. Getting in water and protein somedays it just doesn't want to stay down but we get through it.

It will get easier each day and soon the first month will seem like a life time ago and each WOW moment fuels the fire to keep going.

Enjoy the ride even on the not so good days!
