Liquid diet and Migraine

I started a liquid diet yesterday. I am doing it for weight loss and "re-setting my body". I asked my weight management doc at my last visit, and she gave me the guide lines, and recipes, and told me how to manage it. Anyhow, I started yesterday and today I woke up with a killer migraine I was just wondering if maybe this is because of the junk coming out of my system so to speak. Did anyone else have this happen with the pre-op liquid diet. I am drinking protein shakes, water, vegtalbe juice. Any suggestions would be helpful. Thanks for help.

oh yes. Im sorry I dont have any suggestion. although i can tell you, it was just about the hardest part of the whole thing.  your dog will start to look tastey in a day or two.

hang in there, and try to take it easy. it will be over soon

YOU CAN DO IT!

also, you are doing it for your liver.  you are trying to shrink the liver some because they have to move it to get to the part of your stomach they need to work on. if the liver is too fatty, it can tear during that part. you dont want that.

i just kept thinking about my liver for those 2 weeks of liquid hell.  when i came out of surgery it was one of the first things i asked about.  you think my surgeon would have humored me, instead he told me it still was a little fatty. i almost bit him....LOL

I did liquids for 8 days (so far) and I got a really bad headache too at about day 2 or 3. I drank a protein shake and it went away.

Good luck.

Thanks for the responses. I forgot to mention that I don't have my surgery date, this is not the pre-op diet.  My weight management doc told me it would be ok to do it now to try to lose some weight during this whole process. She knows that I am working toward WLS and I was having a hard time sticking to any kind of eating plan, so I asked her about using this as kind of a practice run or to get me in the mind set for diet changes. She explained what I needed and how to do it so I feel safe doing this diet right now. And it will be a practice run for later when I have to do the real thing. I can't say that this is fun, but I want to be as prepared as I possibly can for the real thing.  Thanks again.

It's probably a combination of carb and caffeine withdrawl - happens to many with liquid diet hell.  Hang in there - it seems to ease up round day 3....which I know seems like an eternity now....

I'm sure it is withdrawl from carbs. It happened to me both when I went on Southbeach and when I did my liquid pre-op. It is amazing how depend we let our bodies become to such things without even realizing it. Bad news is there isn't much you can do to minimize the pain, but the good news is, as others have said, it only lasts about 3 days and then it will just all of the sudden disappear AND you will continue your journey to becoming a healthier person!!!!!

GOOD LUCK!
