OK SO I just got off the phone with Dr Boe and Toni, my B12 was "severly low" so I have to go get a shot for that. He also said that the CT scan was completly normal. I have to go for a gal bladder ultrasoud (JOY these hurt...) and then he will decide if he wants to scope me or not. I am worried and hate to say it not totally comfortable with how things are being handled...

I think that I am just emotional because of all that is going on with my Mom for tomorrow.... don't mind my ranting

Liz, its your body and you have to be comfortable with what the doctors are telling you, and if you think something isn't right with Dr Boe's diagnosis then maybe you should schedule an appt with someone else. Trust your body.

Go ahead and rant - you have a lot going on and if makes you feel better then there's nothing wrong with that!!

Kathy - Thanks! Don't get me wrong - Dr Boe is a FANTASTIC surgeon I am just wondering if maybe I should see a gastroenterologist - a specialist, because maybe it isn't WLS related.

Hopefully the B12 shot this afternoon makes me feel better! I have to wait until August 25th to have the ultrasound done, that was their first available.

No Liz, I didn't think you were dissing Dr Boe - I love the guy, too, but you've had this pain for a while now and it doesn't sound like a B12 shot is going to 'cure' all that. As much as I love the guy if I felt he wasn't giving me the right answers I'd go to another specialist - you have to take care of you first and foremost. I think he's a great doctor, but he's not perfect - no one is. I just hope you start to feel better soon - I know you've been fighting this for a while.

Liz,

If you are not comfortable than by all means, go somewhere else, if nothing else, for a second opinion.  I've heard GREAT things about Dr. Boe - that being said - and I hate to say it this way - he's not YOUR doctor (brader)  You could look into a gi doctor - or you could call brader and see what he has to say.  Or, you could do BOTH those things and get a second AND third opinion.  The ultrasound shouldn't be as painful, by the way.  You are much thinner now and they have less tissue to "push" through to see.  My ultrasound wasn't bad at all - and if you have to go for the hida scan, too, well, in my case, it was just long and tedious - not painful in the least although I freaked out before it anyways!!

Definately get your b12 shot - as shauna will tell you - low b12 is nothing to mess around with.

Oh - and rant away girl - you deserve it.  You've had a hell of a beginning first half of 2008!

Thanks Pam! I actually put a call into Dr Brader - nothing against Dr Boe - Dr Brader just "knows" my pouchie better, since he made it! lol

I have an appt at 3:15 for the first B12 shot. Shauna and Dennis were over on saturday for a support group meeting and we talked a lot about this. So I will be taking care of things quickly as I can!

I hope that the ultrasound is easier to do this time - last time it felt like I was a POW being tortured for information! lol

I am still in good sprits... trying! I just want to feel better. the B12 will help with the fatigue but it totally unrelated to the stomach issues according to Dr Boe, although I guess you never know if those are the nerves that are affected by it - but anyway. We'll see what the family Dr says this afternoon too.

Thanks ladies!
