not getting carried away....just venting

I have not seen the scale move in a few days, and it's frustrating me. I see the same number everyday. I know I am NOT suppose to weigh myself daily....but it just is maddening. Haven't thrown the damn thing yet...

Just figured I would vent for a moment. Hitting the gym 3x per week, walking more...

Whatever, it will happen over time, I suppose.

Go ahead and vent - let's face it - we all go thru this to lose WEIGHT, which means POUNDS and when we don't see them coming off it can be very frustrating. Last month I only lost 5 lbs - not nearly enough - but I've lost a lot of inches and I think its all due to the fact that I'm exercising almost daily and ramping up my work-outs, so I'm thinking building muscle right now and not losing fat lbs. But try not to weigh yourself every day - I know its tempting - I keep my scale in a bathroom closet so I have to make an effort to pull it out. If you haven't measured yourself start doing that (I'm a good one to talk - I haven't done it yet either!!) - but that might help because I'm sure you're getting smaller, just not lighter right now. Good luck - Kathy

Steve--

The same thing happened to me and then at my 6wk appt I had dropped 10lbs....so my advice is to just get rid of the scale and hide it!!!!

Well I did throw mine and it has not seen the light of day in 6 weeks ...I do what I am suppose to do and not worrying about teh number. If the number doesn't change and I don't know I am happy but the fact last week I was standing there talking to my friend and my pj shorts fell down to my ankles means I am dropping at least inches!

It is hard to forget the scale but you will be better off!

Hey Steve,

Don't fret...the scale will move.  I really would suggest only weighing yourself once a week.  Your body can fluctuate so much, especially in the heat.  It's not worth getting all frustrated over a stupid scale.  I actually usually go every two weeks to Barix.  I don't even get on my scale at home, really never have.  I only have one scale and that is Barix.  That is the true number.

On the losing front, with you going to the gym 3x a week you are probably beginning to make more muscle, which will prevent you for right now losing weight.  But once your body adjusts, look out, because Steve will be on his way full force losing pounds like crazy.  Just give it time.  If you're eating enough and drinking enough and doing everything you're supposed to, it will eventually come off.

Remember also that when you're working out as much as you are you may have to eat more to compensate.  I know that sounds crazy, but you may not be eating enough.  Just hang tough...it will all work out.

Good luck!!

Karen

Steve - It is frustrating - and vent away! We've all been there.

Step away from teh scale!! I weigh 1x a week. Also remember that muscle weighs more then fat and you are probably building muscle at the gym. If you aren't already switch things up at the gym and with your diet. Nan is the best example of this - she believes in "tricking" the body. Play with the percentages of protein/carbs/fat that you are taking in and you should see things change, you are what 2 months out? This isn't all that un common - pounds will start melting away again!

Keep up the great work!!

when I got the gym a lot I will gain a little or it just stays the same and then the next week I will drop 2 or 3 pounds... I am going through that now... just remember to drink more right now since it is summer and you working out a lot... also try removing a carb servering for a couple of days and see what happens... but also check into getting a trainer they can help bust these mini stalls as I call them with switching up stuff for ya...

i did treat myself to something....I put on one of my pre-surgery shirts. In fact, the buttons were pulling last time I wore it. I was swimming in it. I was amazing.

I was told yesterday that my shirt was falling off of me, and it was bought last week.

Makes you feel good.

1. Start logging in your food to fitday.com (its free)

2. Pay attention to the percentages and the total grams of fat and carb while making sure you are hitting your protein goal.

3.  Stay away from man made carbs and sliders

4.  Review your logs with the nutritionist

5. Measure yourself (During my 4 month stall I lost 4 sizes)

6.  Don't throw in the towel, stay course, just change up your variety of food often

7.  Whatever your fat limitation is, your carbs should fall in the middle of those two numbers for example my fat range is 28-42 grams per day.  Therefore my carb limit is 39.  Use this as your guide and the scale will plumet.

8.  Use your shakes as meals and as a beverage

Some days your the dog and some days your the hydrant.

If it is any help at all, I followed Nan's advice when I hit one of my many plateaus - and I dropped 5 lbs that week alone.  I use www.thedailyplate.com to track my foods and noticed I was eating more carbs than I thought I was.  Although I don't post much, Nan is a source of inspiration to me as well as a font of extremely useful knowledge.

Good luck!

Donna
