Hijack. ..

I was 52 when I had this life changing surgery and I have 4 grandkids, from the ages of 10 to 1 year old, now do I look like anyone's grandma?  (lol). . .  It's one of the best decisions I made in my life and I still have another at least 27-32 lbs. I working on losing. . .

Also, try checking with the Over Fifty Forum here on OH, there are many people who've had this surgery in their late 40s, 50s and even mid 60s on there, a friendly bunch and you don't have to be 50 to join in!

Good luck to you, Laureen

LOL, thanks Tammy!

I was window shopping more than purchasing though.  It has been fun going into stores, seeing something, trying it on and finding it fits and looks good!   I have to restrain myself not to purchase since I am the No.1 bargain shopper.  If I can't get it at 60 to 70% off, it stays there until it is marked down to those (nd lower of course).

We'll have to go shopping next time I am in town.

Hi Kathy!

You are doing, gee, let me think . . .  AWESOME yourself woman!   Your numbers and all, yeah hah!

Ooo I like that "hot" comment.  That one could get me thinking.  I been called skinny, thin and told I look good, fabulous and awesome.  You're the first to use HOT.  That's gotta be a first for a nun LMAO!  Gee, should I share that one with my 'girls?'

Hope to catch you one of these days at a support meting or gathering.  I bought my ticket for the OH event in October, you going?

Thanks for the compliments!! I do feel wonderful - this month I'm losing more inches than pounds - don't care - will take either!! I will be cruising the high seas to Bermuda in October, so I won't be able to make this event. I'm bummed they're both at the same time, but am sooooo looking forward to this cruise!! Our first cruise was 11 years ago and I will be smaller on this one than I was one the first - able to do more and feel so much better about myself!! Am looking forward to buying new 'cruise' clothes, too!

I'm really hoping Dennis can pull off a Saturday support meeting at Barix - the weekday ones are just too difficult for me to attend.

Take care - and yes, you are an official 'hottie' now!!

Mary, you already know that you are my greatest inspiration and I am SO SO SO happy for and proud of you!  I am happy for your success and I am even happier still for your wonderful relationship and pending marriage to such a great guy and yet another inspiration to us, Norm!  You two are such a beautiful couple and such a great WLS story.  Looking forward to seeing you too at the next meeting.  I do hope to get my butt there in August!

Hi Jan,

First off, nice to see you posting, you've been missed here, as well as at Barix post-op this past month!

I thoroughly enjoyed reading your post and while I am still not where I hope to get to, weight wise, I can totally relate to the feelings behind your post.  This summer has found me doing so many firsts and I mean firsts in my adult life. . .  first time I wore shorts, first time I posed and allowed a picture of me to be taken in a bathing suit, first time I wore a halter top (two of 'em this past weekend, gifts from a friend at Christmas, who said I'll bet these fit by summer). . .  first time I did a 5k, first time I can look in the mirror and say, hey I like how I look!  While I almost always took pride in my appearance, it is most definitely a different kind of feeling now and while I might feel somewhat self conscious at times when like I wore the shorts the first time, the feeling lasts a very short time and then I am thrilled inside that I am becoming what I never thought possible, it is not 2nd nature yet, but most assuredly, I am becoming more confident and self-assured than I've ever been.  Successing is ongoing and never ending, so your post gives me more hope for the future. . .

Hugs, Laureen

PS. . . Let me know when you're back in PA so we can meet up.

Laureen, sounds like you are having a great time too this summer.  Isn't it amazing?!  Look at how many firsts for you . . .  WOW!  By the way, I like that comment about "it is not 2nd nature"    that's exactly it, it is not the norm, it's so new.

Not sure when I will be back in PA to play, probably could stick around when I come in for the post op meeting.  Let's see, would LOVE to grab some time with you.
