I had gastric bypass 4 yr. 4 mon. ago.  I lost 150 lb. but have been gaining it back, slowly at first, but I have gained 45 lb back, 25 of it this year.  Has anyone tried a revision to get back on track?

Go to the duodenal switch board- there are alot of revisions on there. You are in luck too, because Dr. Bonnani is right near by!

There are quite a few looking to have or have had already a revision, usually to the DS. From reading all I can here from these posts on the douodenal switch forum, it is the top of the line. Once with a DS, there is no where else to go. I had gastric bypass in 2005 an have gained 40 pounds back. I hope to have my revision in a few months. Also, go to the "revision" forum and yu will many asking about doing it over again. I am so sorry I did not have the DS to begin with, but now it isis more riskier to have it redone. I wish you well.

Is it possible to have a revision to the gastric bypass (which I had) without going to the DS?  I'm afraid of that one.  How do I get to the revision forum?  I just signed up and haven't had much practice in navigating the site.  Thanks for your reply and good luck to you.

Someone correct me if I am wrong, but you cant have a revision to the procedure you already have! You may be able to get your pouch made smaller, but I am unsure about that. What about the DS scares you? With your stated eating habits, it sounds like the perfect answer, IMHO!

It's my understanding that the DS is more likely to result in chronic diarhea.  I have  irritable bowel syndrome so I'm afraid to chance that.

hmmmm...you should ask that on the revisions or DS board-I know of one person who's IBS greatly improved, but there may or may not be others. In any case, Dr. Bonnani is the WLS dr. nearest you-he does all the procedures and he is based out of Abington. His office just moved to Warminister.

Linda, here is the link to the "revision" board. Glad you asked because I just found out they moved the link. It is now listed under "other surgery types", well actually I am not sure, but it is on the right hand side, not the left any longer.

Also, do not be afraid of checking out the DS. It is more exciting and doable than so many thought. I am so glad I found that group. Come on over and see what we are all about.

And yes, you could get your proximal gastric bypass (assuming it was proximal) made into a distal, and that may be all need.
