Tingling tongue feeling?
Hi Debbie,
First off I am not a nurse nor a doctor but i wanted to respond to your post. My husband (who is not a gastric bypass pt ) experiences tingling of the tongue due to his medical conditions of hypoparathyroidism and hypocalcemia , he is sleeping right now so I cant ask him but I think this happens when his calcuim and phosporus are low. I think you should check with your doctor maybe some of your levels are low. Do you ever get any facial numbess my husband also experiences that when is calcuim, phosporus and albumin are low that is called tetany.
It also could just be a allergy reaction to something your are eating it happens to me with nectarines my tongue tingles and my face feels funny.
Just my thoughts maybe Pam the nurse will check in later.
Hope this help alittle
Take care
Nancy
Hmm...I'm at a loss for this one. Considering you are specifically referring to the tongue. I also didn't know about the low calcium/phosphorus sensations, though - so it might be something to look into.
The only thing that came to my mind was the b vitamin deficiencies which can cause permament nerve damage - but I'm thinking you would feel that in your arms and legs, not just your tongue.
I would mention it to your doc....
