Catalog Shopping

Now I NEVER ordered from a catalog before.  Not even clothes from Lane Bryant.  Basically because stuff never seemed to fit right, I didn't know what size to order, etc. etc.  So a few weeks ago, hubby pointed to this red cute summer sundress type thing and said "That's hot!  You need to get that!"   So I let it sit on the counter for a few days.  The sizes were S 6/8, M 10/12, L 14/16  All of my pants/shorts are 6.  But my tops are listed as "medium" from stores like Kohls and what not.  I was a little perplexed.  Do I buy the medium because that's what my tops are?  Or the small because that's my size in pants?  Will it fit?  Will it look good?  I bought the small, expecting to return it, as I always do with catalog orders. It came today.  I open the box, take out the dress.  I have the same reaction as I do when I pull out ANY new clothes (even ones I've been wearing for a few weeks) which was "Crap, it's to small"  But, as I've learned, I better try it on first. Yea, it fits!  And yea, it's "hot" as hubby says.  I really was amazed!! I'm actually planning on bringing it to the July 4th bar b que (AFTER the 5k, I won't be wearing a dress to run in, promise! lol) in case I want to change into something depending on how sweaty I get. Shopping still amazes me.....and now CATALOG shopping.  Simply amazing. Pam

Congratulations ! I also get a little leary when it comes to catalog ordering. I ordered two sweat suits in 1 X hoping I wasn't going to have to take it back. I decided to keep them. The pants are kind of baggy in the front and the top is a little tight in the arms but it looks ok. I still glance at the 3 X's still have that "mind set" . You will have to get a pic of you in that "hot" dress. Sandy

Fantastic on the size SMALL!! That's great!! But see, I'm the opposite - I had gotten so big that the only clothing I could buy came from catalogs - Lane Bryant, Ulla Popken, Making It Big - all expensive and then had to pay for shipping and returns. Now I can finally shop in real stores again and I'm thrilled!! I'm still in 2X, but at least I can walk into Kohl's, Dress Barn Woman, Alfred Dunner, etc., and buy something off the rack for the first time in at least 10 years! And I look at things too and think 'no way is that small top fitting on this body' but when it does it feels sooooooooo good! Congrats again on the cute red dress - we'll be calling you The Lady in Red this summer! Take pics - we want to see! Kathy

Yes, I'll take pics of me in it.....in the meantime, if I did this correctly, it should be here....  It covers more than it appears to cover - it goes down past my knees, and the girls are *mostly* covered up.  My back is exposed a bit, though Click Here to Close Window

WOOOOHOOOOO, sexy mama, here you come!!!!  It's got a Spanish flare to it.  Very nice!!! Congrats on finding something in a catalog!!!  Who knew, right??  Like Kathy, I never had a problem with catalog shopping, because I had to order the biggest size, a 5x, and I knew it would fit.  Totally pathetic.  But now all those worries are behind me and no more ordering the biggest size :) Congrats again, Pam.  You've done so well and deserve a sexy red dress!!  See you soon at the 5k.

We have the same taste in clothes.  I just saw this dress over the weekend in one of those "all the best out of catalogue" catalogues, and I though, damn that is too cute! I was thinking about buying it for our trip to Vegas in August.  Although I won't be purchasing in a size Small.  LOL  maybe someday!

Hey Pam, You've done great and the dress is "hot", Brian has good taste in more than his choice of women ;) and I'll bet you look great in it!  Enjoy your new svelte self and the ability to wear clothes like that, the kind you can buy in stores or catalogs now! Hugs, Laureen
