Great Meeting in Media last night!!!

Once again Debi has hosted a wonderful meeting. We met at her moms house, beautiful woman, and had access to the pool. We had 7 1/2 people attend, Debi's son Benjamin joined us in the pool.  It was great to see everyone and meet a few new people and I am looking forward to next months meeting/bbq.  Thank you to all who attended, and I pray that more will be able to join us in the future. Now I have to go home and b*tch-slap my husband for making other plans for last night so I couldn't attend the meeting! I'm so sorry I missed it and everybody. Glad you had a good meeting - hope Debi's mom got a lot out of it - I know she's having surgery soon. Kathy

My mom just keeps saying what a great group of people, so nice and friendly.  She really felt like she belonged.  I am happy cause I know she is going to need support after surgery and while having me a year or so ahead of her on the journey is going to be wonderful, she is also going to want support from others.   Thanks everyone for coming, and look for an email from me for the next meeting. Mom is going to be one of the Brader Bunch.  She is having her surgery at Lancaster General.  However, we don't knwo when yet.  She has sleep apnea, so she needs to do at least 6 weeks with the CPAP.  She has to have a Stress Test done, and her insurance requires the 6 month doctor supervised diet.  Mom doesn't seem to believe me when I tell her the 6 month supervised diet needs to be documented.  She thinks her note from her doctor stating she has been trying to lose weight on many different diets over the years is enough.  She was involved in a meridia study a few years back where she went to the doctor every month.  but I don't know if that is going to be enough to satisfy her insurance requirements.  She met with a dietician 6 weeks ago, and I am trying to get her to schedule another appointment with the dietician, just so she has a head start if they do end up requiring her to do the 6 month study, but she won't make the appointment.  It isn't that she is stubborn, just always looking at the positive side of everything.  She thinks hey, I need this surgery, and they are going to approve it, even though it isnt' always that simple.  I want her to be proactive in getting approval, but at the same time, she sees how easy approval was for me, so she thinks it will be just as simple for her.  But we have different insurance companies...

Well worst case scenario (as we all know) is that she gets denied, does the 6 mos thing and then appeals the decision.  I hope she does well with everything! Pam
