I am scheduled for surgery on 7/1......Needless to say, I am going through liquid hell as we speak (he requires 10 days).  I must say, I have eaten a few bites here and there of things....I am Starving!!!

HI!!  If you are going to The Weight Loss Clinic in Harrisburg, Dr. Davidson does not do any type of Pre-Surgery diet, but I am not sure about the other Surgeons there.  That was one of the first things I asked him.  But ask your Surgeon when you meet with him!  Maybe I'll see you there sometime!!  Woo hoo!

I had doc boe and only had to do 7 days... but I never had a chance for a last meal because everything got screwed up when my orginal doc left and I got stuck to the side like many others... they called said they had an opening and I took it... the next day was PAT... 7 days after that was my surgery... but in 7 days I lost 17 pounds and then didn't have to do that nasty butt cleanse stuff like some others had to do...

It all depends on the size of your liver.  No matter what surgeon or procedure, if you have a fatty or enlarged liver, your surgeon will have different rules based on what they are expecting once you reach the operating table.

Some days your the dog and some days your the hydrant.

My surgeon just required light meals the week before surgery and the day before nothing after a certain time depending on the time of surgery the next day.  Did have a last meal 3 or 4 days before surgery. Wendy

Well everyone has pretty much summed it up. Just wanted to add that if you are going to do "last supper" things - be sure to do it well in advance.  I did a few of them.  There were 3 places I wanted to go to before surgery.  I got to two of them.  And you know what - not going to that third place didn't mean the end of the world for me - most of the time to this day I still don't miss it.  In fact, thinking about most of that food makes me feel nauscious. You definately want to start a pre op lifestyle as soon as possible - break the cycle now.  It helps (although does not cure) the whole food mourning thing, in my humble opinion.  Get used to eating lighter now and making healthier choices. And yup - the liquid diet helps shrink the liver.  And that gives the surgeon more room to move around in there, so the surgery and hopefully recovery, will be a bit easier. Pam

Thanks Pam!  I actually agree with you.  I had to make some changes a few weeks ago and go to a low sodium diet because of my blood pressure.  It was a change but I feel better already...I never realized how much sodium was in everything!!
