I Did It!-Thanks Barix Support Group!

I came to the support group last night after not having been there for many, many months. My weight has been about the same for 2 years. It's about 25 pounds from my original goal set by Dr. K. I didn't feel I had the right to be there and to share when I wasn't where I needed to be weight wise. I know today that I was wrong. I got so much out of last night's meeting. I want to say that I did something today that could not really imagine myself doing. I walked 5Ks! To those who are regular walkers that might not be so important, but to me it was monumental. This is the only place that I can share this personal success! I really have to thank Andy and Dennis. When I think it was Dennis who said that 5k is really only 3.1 miles, I thought, " I can do that!" When people were talking about not making excuses, I thought of all that I've made. When Heidi was talking about acceptance, I thought, "I really need to start accepting myself." So many people touched me last night! Tomorrow, June 20th, I turn 56. I'll start my day with another walk. My head will be down because I can't feel my feet, but my heart will be way up there! Thank you all for giving me what I so very much needed Nancy Cirolla -Langhorne, PA

Good for you Nancy!!!  I actually missed last nights meeting for a work social event that had been scheduled and you know what, I thought about that meeting all night.  I have only been to two others but had gotten a lot from them.  Your paragraph also inspired me to get back to the gym. It's ben three weeks that I haven't gone. At first it was a "not feeling well" thing then moved to "just not feeling like it". Well, I am going to get myself back on track b/c if you can I can!!! I am so happy to hear you had a life changing experience.  Keep up the good work and keep walking!! You are an inspiration...Carrie

That's truly wonderful Nancy. We've really missed you over so many months. Wow what a meeting! We had so much good stuff coming from so many last night and new folks we met at the pilgrimage too like Nicki, Evonne and Mary and etc., etc.. What a night! I look forward to many more good nights like that. Dennis

I missed everyone, too. This year I'm going to celebrate my surgiversary date. The past 2 years I just let it slip by. You're a terrific leader, Dennis and you've helped me get remotivated. Thanks! Nancy C.

Nancy It was great seeing you last night and by all means share your success. You were inspired and followed that through by walking 5K and by sharing with us on this post. Enjoy you birthday!!!!!! Feel proud of all you have accomplished. Instead of focusing on the 25 pounds you did not lose, stay focused on all that you did lose. Hope to keep seeing you here and at Barix. Arlene
