Well, if official all my pre-approval requirements are in and Vicky is getting them together to send to my insurance company. I thought I would never get done the 6 month diet Highmark required before approval. I called the insurance dept at Barix and was told it would take about a day to get the info to the insurance company. I will be sure to call Highmark on Friday just to verify they received the information. I don’t want anyone to drop the ball. 6 months is a long time and I am so ready to have this done. Please keep your fingers crossed for me.

Thanks, Tracy

Hi, I have Highmark too. I just started the 6 mos diet and I am finding it really hard to "diet". Actually, I feel like I'm in the rebelling mood. I havn't done anything. I meet with the dietician on July 2, hopefully I can get motivated soon. What was your 6 months like?

Caffyphu - did your insurance require you to get a nutritionist during your 6 month diet? My insurance required a 3 month diet and exercise regime so I found a nutritionist at a local hospital - she was wonderful!! She never actually put me on a 'diet' - I was on 1800 calories a day - she had me track what I was eating - watch my sweets and stuff like that, but I never felt like I really gave up anything during that time. I also joined a gym and paid a personal trainer a one time fee to set me up on an exercise program - I was 388 lbs when I started with bi-lateral knee replacements so they had to be careful how much I could do. She gave me a very basic work-out to strengthen my breathing and just generally build up my resistence. In that time i actually lost 33 lbs without really trying! So if you can possibly do at least one, if not both of these things I would highly recommend it. Not only did I feel better but it made my surgery so much easier having lost some of the bulk I was carrying around. Best of luck to you...Kathy
