Hello Stephanie!
I realize you posted this a couple of weeks ago, but I wanted to check in with you to see how you are doing and if you are still feeling very emotional.
Please know that this is VERY normal. It often its at the 2-3 week mark.....so you were right on target! Isn't THAT nice to know that your body was doing exactly what it should have been doing??
The reason for this is that right after surgery your body is fighting hard to heal from trauma. Your emotional needs are suppressed as the body's main concern it preservation of the physical realm. Once the body has a handle on recovery it frees itself to allow the emotions to come.
Getting the annesthesia out of your system is key as well. It can sometimes take up to 3 months to rid the body completely.
I suspect too that you are right on track about emotional eating and your need to find someone at sometime in the future who can help you see this element clearly. This doesn't need to be done right away, and frankly you MAY be better off to wait awhile until you have gotten through the initial surgical period. You will be changing a lot over the next several months!!
Please feel free to contact me at any time!

Oh Linda!!
I'm sorry that the discs can't be repaired and that your surgeon wont do a 3 level fusion. Please continue to look for Drs. specializing in this area as I'm confident you will find what you are seeking.
In the meantime might I recommend a book. It is called Full Catastrophe Living by Jon Kabat-Zimm, Ph,D. The subtitle is Using the Wisdom of your body and mind to face stress, pain and illness.
He also runs a pain management clinic. This book has been recommended to several of my friends through their own psychologists and I am in the process of reading it and applying the principals.

Congratulations on the 104 lbs lost. What an accomplishment!!
As to your sagging skin.....wait a bit before having the PS. Try to be at goal and holding there for at least 6 months because your skin WILL shrink some. It may not go all the way back, but it will change over time and you want the best result from your PS. (been there, done that LOL). It is very difficult to wait, but it will be worth it in the end.
Again, Congrats!!

-170 RNY 2/5/05 + 3 rounds of PS

Things are going very well! I can't believe how wonderful I feel at just a little over a week from having my surgery. I am having no problems getting my fluid in and my protein drinks are doing great too. When is the next support group meeting in McMinnville? I really want to come.
Have A Great Day!

Que lastima la nariz y boca!
Now since tomorrow is Thursday.....are you expecting to be out tomorrow in time to go to the game?? Uh....if so that is a bit unrealistic, but who am I to judge. I was out in 33 hours and went to the grocery on the way home!
Will hold you in good thoughts and prayers for a wonderful surgery!

Hey Lori!
How is it going at week one after surgery? You getting your water in? Having any problems?
I went to the Dr. today and they "drained the swamp" of my seromas. There was less fluid in there than last week so that is a good thing. I wish I could get my energy levels back though!! Sooooo tired most of the time.
I really enjoyed meeting you and look forward to seeing you again!
Let me know if there is anything I can do for you!
