Topic: Best-textured protein powder?
I just posted this on the RNY board, but me not know how to crosspost!

The unflavored protein that I bought is detestable. I'm moving to pureed food next week and I need a good-textured protein to add to my hummus and cheese and such. I've ordered some Unjury, but it won't be here til next Friday.

I don't shop at Costco, but I will be in Portland on Monday (and going to Trader Joe's), so I could use some ideas, please!

If you work for the school district, aren't you considered a state employee (in Washington, they are)?  If so, isn't your insurance covered through PEBB?  My understanding is that Oregon state employees are eligible for both lap band and rny.  There are hoops and criteria....but it is available.

Topic: Hi Everyone in Oregon - Praying I get Lapband...
Hi! My name is Jennifer and I'm in Portland. I have been doing a lot of reading about the Lapband and I'm extremely interested in getting it. I'm going to the seminar on 9/30 with my husband. I work for a school district and we are changing to ODS or Providence insurance by 9/15/08. I have been calling the insurance companies and neither cover WLS, which isn't cool! I have been talking with my mom and husband and we would figure out a way to cover it, though. I have a current BMI of 40 and just really want this so badly. I would love to be down to a healthy weight for my husband and I to start making grandbabies for my mom... and to just be a healthy weight overall!!

Any suggestions or comments you have would greatly be appreciated! I read all of your guys' forums to find out information about the Lapband! Congrats to everyone who has it and who is going to have it! You are awesome and I send you many prayers! Who knows... maybe in the next few month I will be leaving my forum saying I had a succesful banding!!

Have a great night!!

I was in 14-36 at OHSU so we were neighbors :)  I had been quite constipated so I was told to take milk of magnesia yesterday and did.  OH BOY watch out...I have had major "runs" for 2 days....Ugh...well I guess it's good I went but dang, I am afraid to move half the time.  I was able to cut myself off the oxycodone which is awesome but I have major leg probs in  my left leg and it is killing me. I would usually take ibuprofen for the pain, but I know thats a no no.  I took a dose of my liquid happiness tonight and am hoping it kicks in soon.  Otherwise I have no clue what to do for the pain.  Does anyone have any suggestions?? I am dying here.  Thanks for all the well wishes!!

Thats cool! My house is in a complete uproar for the next 16 weeks starting Sunday!
My husband is the President of the Dallas Cowboys Fanz Club all over the US. He started the "small" club about 2 years ago here in California just to find a few guys to watch the games with and it just went nuts. There are so many fans all over the country...its incredible!
My husband got the dream invitation a few weeks ago at Cowboys Camp in Oxnard...Jerry Jones invited us to the game in Dallas on Thanksgiving and be his guest in his box...I thought my hubby was gonn **** his pants!!!! He is so excited! I just hope I can meet jason Witten in the flesh...he is just yummy!!!!

GO COWBOYS!!!!!!!!!!!!!

BIG Hugs,
Lisa

Topic: Looking for a local support group
I live in Creswell,  but because I am having my surgery in Portland I need to find a local support group I can attend.  Anyone know of one in the Eugene/Spfld area that you don't have to be a patient of the local Bariatric center to attend??

Thanks,  Vicki

Woo-hoo, that's super! I went in the day before you and I thought about you frequently; I would have come by and said hi, but didn't know where you were. (I was in 14-44A.).

My loss is about the same as yours, so I'm hoping for 20 lbs down when I see Dr O. on Monday.

Good luck; don't let the protein shake diet get you down. I'm hitting the wall on getting in the protein via shakes. My Unjury order won't be here until Tuesday!
