Topic: RE: Hi Everyone in Oregon - Praying I get Lapband...
Hi Jennifer. My primary care physician was 100% on board with my surgery. She ordered my blood work to see how my diabettes was doing and she ordered the sleep study to see if I had sleep apnea. Once those tests were completed she sent copies to the surgeons office.
If you are self pay, things can and will go really fast. Once I got through the initial tests and meetings they called and said he could do my surgery the next week. As happy as I was, I had to put the breaks on. I have no family here and my mom and dad wanted to come out to help me so I waited untill they were able to get here.
It's really great that your family is coming with you to the seminar. They give a lot of good information that everyone should know. This isn't just going to be you having surgery, it's going to be you having a life changing event.

Topic: RE: Any idea on how much a finance payment per month is for self payers...
I am also a self pay patient. Mine came out to right around $18,000 including the sleep study. I ended up getting a home equity line so my payments aren't set. I think your estimate of around $300 would be correct.
What clinic are you going through? I am with OWLS. They do surgery here in Portland and also in Vancouver. It is cheaper for some reason to have the surgery in Vancouver. Also, I can't say enough good things about the staff and care I recieved there. It's a brand new facility.

Not sure where or with who you have decided to have your surgery, but you may want to consider Bay Bariatrics in Coos Bay. They do lapband for, I think, it is 12K......I know several people who have chosen Dr. T for their surgeon and have been pleased.
Just a thought!

So, I'm pretty sure I'm going to have to pay the majority of my procedure with my own, my mom & dad's own and my husband's own hard earned money! My insurance will cover the sleep study and probably some blood work, but I just got hit with the numbers of around $20,000. I did a little crying and asked how I was going to be able to do it, but somehow it will be done. My family is strong and we can come up with this. I was given a name of a finance company for WLS. I was curious how much payments run for most... with probably 60 month financing. $300? more?
I know I'm a needy gal lately on these message boards, but I sure appreciate all the awesome people who write me back! I truely appreciate it!

Thanks a lot for your reply, he actually called Salem Clinic and they wanted 124.00 just for a visit, plus more for lab work. For now he ended up going to the Urgent Care Clinic in South Salem and was only charged 74.00 total. I would still like for him to find a good pcp, although he liked the dr he saw today and said that the guy spent a lot of time with him.

When I lived in Salem in the early 1990s, I was a patient at the Salem Clinic. The clinic has a variety of specialities in there. I used the services of the clinic's gyn and internist.

Topic: PCP
Hi everyone, I was wondering if anyone has the name of a good PCP that is accepting new patients in the Salem/Keizer area. My husband is in need of a PCP and I use my ob/gyn as my pcp so that wouldn't be of help to him. Any help would be greatly appreciated, he moved here from Alabama and is on high blood pressure meds, thyroid meds, and cholesterol meds and hasn't seen a dr since being here.
