Topic: cleared for surgery, but no date yet

Hello Oregon Boarders, I haven't posted in a while because I've had problems posting with my pc. I'm updating w/ my sister's computer now. I thank everyone for their support &  wanted to let you know I've been cleared for surgery & am waiting for a date. I've been undergoing this journey for a long while now, so I'm very excited to get to the next step after spending a long time in the actual weightloss process. I will update this board as soon as I get any more info. I also have a profile on OH under "starflower".  Thanx again 4 the support!!!

Topic: RE: DENIED

In response to a couple of the posts and the original post. I have Pacificare and was denied as well initially.  I was reffered to ObesityLaw.com.  Kelly and Walter are wonderful.  They helped me appeal and I got approved in less than a year and after my approval had my surgery date in less than 2 months. It was worth the money. Any questions please feel free to ask.

Hi Diana,
I had my surgery in Nov. with Dr. Deveney. Just for info if you're interested. We have a support group in Salem tomorrow night at the hospital 6:30 in the basement, all pre-op, post-op, thinking about surgery are welcome. There are a  couple of us from OHSU, others from Legacy and Coos Bay.
But i'll be glad to answer any questions.

Just happened to notice that two more hospitals have been added to the list of Medicare-approved facilities for WLS in Oregon:

- Bay Area Hospital, Coos Bay (as of 6/30/2008)
- St. Charles Medical Center, Bend (as of 6/30/2008)

The others are:

- OHSU, Portland (as of 6/27/2006)
- Legacy Good Samaritan Hospital and Medical Center, Portland (as of 2/24/2006)
- Sacred Heart Medical Center, Eugene (as of 1/23/2008)

DS (lap) with Dr. Clifford Deveney. Cholecystectomy (lap) with Dr. Clifford Deveney 19 months post-op.

Has not weighed myself since 1/2010.  Letting my clothes gauge my progress instead.

Congratulations Lucia!  I hope you feel better and stronger every day.  I had the RNY, but I think it's pretty much the same at the beginning.  You just have to do your best to keep sipping and get in as much protein as you can.  I'm not sure any of us were successful in meeting the doctors' recommendations, but you just keep trying.  All the best to you!

Linda
