Topic: Eugene/Springfield Support Group Meeting next Wednesday, October 15

Everyone is welcome to attend the OH Support Group Meeting for Eugene/Springfield, to be held next Wednesday, October 15, at the Market of Choice, 29th and Willamette Streets in Eugene.  We meet in the Community Room, upstairs from the coffee bar, 6:00 - 7:30 p.m.  I have more samples to give out, but still no OH Magazines.  I'm beginning to think they don't exist!

Hey there!!
I had Realize Band surgery w/ Dr. T on 4/1/08 and I had no pre op diet..I was told to eat a light meal the night before and that's it..
When I asked about the pre op diet I was told it depended on your pre op weight whether or not to have the pre op diet..my BMI was right at 40.
Hope this helps!!

It would be great to see you if you can make it on the 15th Julia.  Congrats on the promotion!  How cool is that?

I just firmed up the plans today.  I'm having a three-level fusion at OHSU on November 19th.  While three levels aren't generally recommended, I have a lot of arthritis along with the ruptured discs, making the bottom of my spine rather unstable.  The fusion will keep things from crumbling.  I'll have to be very careful to keep my core muscles strong.  Fortunately, I own a Pilates machine.  Now to pull it out permanently from under the quilting machine!

Trisha,  Good luck with your new OH group.  That is great.  I want to try to attend one of Linda's in Eugene soon.  I thought about trying to do the same thing in Roseburg but with traveling for my job, it wouldn't work well.  Maybe I can get to one of yours some day soon.  Julia

Hi Linda----How's your back coming along?  I know you were planning to see a new M.D. in Portland, I think.  Have you seen him yet?  Hope he can help.  I do know a great Neurosurgeon---a Veterianary in Gladstone!  She has done surgery on my dog twice now  (yes I know silly people we  are).  He is doing well and they are great.  MRI and surgery the day we took him up there and home the next day.  He could hardly walk, 90 % of spinal cord compressed) and now we have a hard time slowing him down.  Too bad people Doctors. aren't so fast and while the cost was a lot for a dog would be just a drop in the bucket for you!!!
My job is actually a promotion.  I travel from Medford to the Corvallis/Albany area as a nurse consultant for an assisted living company.   I would like to try to make it to your meeting on the 15th.  I will be in Corvallis and that is much closer than coming from Roseburg so may see you then.  Julia

Nola,  You are doing great.  91 pounds in a little over 8 months is good.  It took me 7 months to lose 100 and you are not far behind.  The loss does slow down but you will lose more.  The only regret I have is not doing it sooner as most of us feel, I think.  So many pluses with this surgery.  Julia

I am doing well. I have lost a total of 91 lbs. so far.  I just feel that my success doesn' t  compare to that of that of other's on OH.  Still, I feel better and look better than I have in a long time.  I don't' regret my decision at  ALL.  I know the RNY saved my life and gave me more time with the people I love. You have inspired me greatly during this journey Julia.

Thanks and God Bless.
