Topic: RE: Surgery Date! But not WLS
Hi Trisha - they told me four days, but it could vary.  I am NOT looking forward to the surgery, but trying to look beyond it to being recovered and in lots less pain.

If you get the chance, I'd love it if you stopped by, but don't worry about it if you can't.

Thanks Heather, best of luck on your WLS. I had Dr. Read and have done great. Maybe see you at the support meeting if you attend!

Hello Julia!  It is good to see you here.  I'm afraid I haven't been here much either, but it is because I've had computer issues.  Now I have a new computer and it is WONDERFUL not to have to go to the library to use one.

Congrats on the new job.  Sounds like something that you would love doing!!

Linda!!  I'm glad that you finally have a date.  I think that in time you will feel so very much better!

How long will you be there, do you know?  I think they kept my friend in for 3-4 days.  Please let me know would you?  I can't promise that I will be there, I need to check my calender, but I think that is the week I need to be back in to see Dr. Hansen at OHSU.

You take care and you will certainly be in my prayers for an uneventful surgery.

Topic: Anyone Else Having Problems with Absorption?!?
I had my RNY in May of 2003 and I believe it was successful. I lost a hundred pounds in the first 10 months and then I went up and down in my weight but always staying about 180 to 200 lbs. When my hair started falling out and my nails grew ridges, I knew there was something wrong but the doctors told me I was fine.  Ten months followed with me chewing ice constantly to the point of cracking two molars. I was tired all the time and could remember simple things.  That's the first clue I had that absorption was going to be a problem. I just didn't know how bad.

Well, once the blood work was in the doctors' all had to agree that I wasn't absorbing iron from food nor supplement. I received an iron infusion and started feeling like myself again but it didn't last long. It was like my stomach was shutting down more and more of its surface was not working.

To make a long story short, I am now taking B-12 shots, iron infusions, lovenox, and still I am having difficulties with many of the medication but my life seems like I'm in battle. Fighting to get me the proper treatment. So if there is any information that you have to give, even ideas at this point I would be grateful.
