Hi and welcome to the board. I had RNY 2 1/2 years ago and have lost about 177 pounds and it has been the best thing I have ever done. I live in Roseburg and had my surgery in Klamath Falls with Dr. Mirande. I have had a Tummy Tuck and blephoraplasty last April and plan on a breast lift and reduction next year. I couldn't be happier with my results. I just turned 60 years of age in September.
Good luck to you in making your decision on which surgery to have. I feel I needed the by-pass to accomplish what I have done. Julia

Hi Peggy,
Thank you for sharing your information. It helps alot to hear of your success. I am having the surgery at OHSU, probably in February. Other than the soda pop what has been the hardest part for you?

Hi,
Thank you so much. It really helps to hear how you are doing and that you would do it again.
What has been the hardest part for you? Also, where did you have it done?

Topic: Anyone have Dr Halpin in Portland, Or???
I had her when she was at Washington University in St Louis. I know she is with Dr Emma Patterson in Portland. She was wonderful and amazing. She did what NO ONE else could or WOULD do for me. I owe her for my wonderful life.

Hi there:
My name is Peggy, and I had Open RNY on August 22, 2006. I started my journey out at 526 lbs. It took me 18 months to jump thru all the hoops, of course if you have Kaiser Permanente it does take a while. I have lost a total of about 300 lbs since surgery with a lot of hard work, cutting portions, and exercise and cutting out the soda pop ( that was one of the hardest things for me to do) I am extremely happily I had the surgery done. Yes I would do it again.
Where are you having your surgery done? Just curious. I need plastic surgery, I have tons of hanging skin I need to get rid of. But that'll come in time. I used to hate excercising, and was "allergic" to stepping on the scale, Now I work out between 3-4x a week, 2 x with a trainer.
Good luck on your journey.

Hi
Congratulations! What type of surgery did you have? Where did you have it? I am planning on having the gastric bypass but I am very nervous about it and would love to talk with you.

Hi,
Thanks for your encouraging message. I am contemplating the gastric bypass because it seems more effective. I live in Beaverton. I have a friend that did lap band but she is losing very slowly.
Do you know anyone that has had the gastric bypass? Also, I am having it at OHSU and many of the posts seem unhappy with the care they received. Where was your surgery and what was your experience.
I really appreciate the feedback.
