Topic: Good Sam process

Hi, i am Lisa from Astoria. I have had one appt. with Good Sam where i did blood work and written tests, and this coming Tue and Wed i will have the four appts that include: psych, nutritionist, phys therapy and the nurse practicioner.
I was hoping someone could comment who has been through this process about what to possibly expect this week and maybe afterwards as well.
Thanks

WOW...that is so sad.  I will definitely be sending good vibes her way.

Where did she have her surgery and who was her Doctor?

Thank you for the prayers please continue to pray, they went in and found massive infection around the band, Probably from pulling stitches out when she ate the bite. They cleaned out all infection, took the band out, and left her open to heal. She has 4 drain tubes, is on a respirator, and many many other tubes and wires. She is in ICU and will be there from 5-7 days and then another 7 days on the Med/Surg floor. She is heavily sedated right now to keep her quiet and the respirator in.

She is in for a long recovery and in the end for nothing, her band that she was so excited about is gone. The surgeon said maybe in the future she would be a canidate for full open gastric by pass but, only time will tell at this point. He said the next 24-48 hours are the critical ones.

Thank you for the prayers. If any of you out there are on liquid diet.... or mushies.... please don't cheat.... it is very scary.

Thanks again-

I don't know how much my friends imursolem8 or foo have posted but, we all have had lap band. Foo was banded on Dec. 23, 2008. Made the mistake of eatting a bite of something around Dec. 28, 2008. Was Scoped on Dec. 31, 2008. Her bowels shut down at that point and they admitted her to the hospital yesterday to break up the gas bubble and pump her stomache where everything collected. I just got a call that they are moving her to ICU because her O2 is down. Please pray for her recovery, and for the guidence of the MD's that are taking care of her.

She is a wonderful person and pray that you will all get to know her after this "scare" is over.

Thank you-
Jo

Topic: Seattle Bash 2009?
Does anyone have any information on the Seattle lap band Bash for 2009? I know last year it was in Feb. I am wondering what the dates and agenda are for 2009.

Topic: RE: Is anyone as lost as I am?
Hi, Nola.  I too am doing great.  I  love holding that new little grandaughter of mine.  She was about 24 hours old in that pic.  She lives in Beaverton and I live in Roseburg so miss her a lot.  I read OH Oregon messages almost daily but don't participate as much as I use to.  I have a job now that has me traveling form the Medford area up to Corvallis and Albany and occ. Salem and I can't alway use my personal lap top.  I do need the support as we all do I think.  Keeping the weight off is my goal now---of course there is that breast lift/reduction I am going have this year!!  Have a great New Year and stay in touch with the group.  Julia

Brandon, you are also right at that 100 pound loss point! That must be exciting for you.  I agree you do need to be able eat the good stuff, protein etc.  I know what you mean about the mirrors.  I have been known to deliberatly walk in front of one at times now!!!  I too, see myself for what I am  most of the time but then there are times that I see a heavier person in the mirror but not back to where I started from at least.  You will certainly get the rest of your weight off and then the goal is to keep it off.  That is where the support of others is important.  Happy New Year!  Julia
