Topic: RE: Did I REALLY get a bypass?
I too wondered if they did anything but poke holes in me. Then I got sick a few times and learned. It may not feel different until you eat solids. I am struggling too so I don't have a magic pill but do eat protiene.
Also I think you are supposed to eat every couple hours. Dont try to have just 3 meals a day.

Topic: Living in Coos Bay?
Hi! I am wondering what Coos Bay is like to live in? We are looking for a place to live that does not get so hot in the summers, has good schools, and freindly folks. What do you think?
Topic: RE: Oh Yoo Hoo! Let's have a ROLL CALL!
Hi,
I'm Beth, had my DS with Deveny on 10/31/08 and live in SW Portland. Currently down 88lbs. LOVING being able to be active again and pain free! Diabeties is gone (6.7 A1c down to a 4.5) hypertention and cholestrol gone too (YAY!)
The happniess so far has been in CHASING my daughter, it was a proud moment where I actually wiped out and skinned my elbow/knees chasing after her. Pre surgery, this was not something I could have even dreamed of doing..
Other big wows, I can garden without pain! Before I would work in a bed or 2 and have to take a breath from either lots of pain or being out of breath.
Only issue I've had to deal with is this mystery "neurological disorder" We have no clue if this is surgical related or something that has just showed up. I am VERY thankful to have such an awesome, supportive PCP who has worked with me on this. While he dosen't fully understand the DS (i'm his first) he is very open minded to learning and being supportive of whatever it is I need.

SO far Rite Aide is the only place local I've found the Centrium chewables. They have an "orangeish" flavor to them and are MUCH higher in vites/minerals then the flinstones are.

Topic: Anyone need anything from Vitalady? Heading to Seattle tomorrow
Hey all,
Just as the title says. I'm heading to Seattle tomorrow (a trip I make frequently) and this time I'll be stopping by Vitalady's again to pick up some of my vites.. If anyone is in need of anything, let me know and I can pick it up for you and avoid the HIGH shipping cost:)

Topic: RE: Did I REALLY get a bypass?
Drinking a shake might not have any repercussions because the liquid just goes through very quickly.
The hunger comes from the "other" tummy, not your new pouch. It will probably still get the hungries until it goes away. My RNY made me immediately NOT hungry; maybe your vagus nerve wasn't affected the way mine was. The vagus nerve is what gives the hungry signal to our brain.
We're all different; I'd suggest not eating cream of wheat due to the white carbs which will trigger more need to eat. If you need to eat again, try using a greek yoghurt with splenda or some fresh fruit. Higher protein, no white carbs.
Also, just having another protein shake would be an option.
This is all new and wonderful, and your solution should be as personal as you need it to be.
Good luck!

Topic: Did I REALLY get a bypass?
Hi, folks. I'm just confused. I had my lap RNY on Monday, April 13 in Springfield, and came home the next day. My "innards" are sore, not where the incisions are, but lower and off to the left side. I can't tell when I'm full, and I was drinking a protein shake and realized I had drunk ALL of it...with no...repercussions. They told me I would not feel hungry. I'm starving. They said I'd have to remind myself to eat....I have to force myself to stop. I'm still doing the liquid/soft food diet (for another 8 days or so), so this morning I had a carton of yogurt (4 oz.). Still hungry so a couple of hours later I fixed cream of wheat, with Splenda. Ate probably a cup of that at least. This just repeats what I've been doing. Now I worry that I'm hurting my new "pouch" or that something has gone wrong.
Anyone else experience anything like this? Thanks.

So if you know how to do all of that, why don't you have a picutre up Vicki. I am still trying to figure out how to upload or get a picture of myself onto the computer to I can put that up instead of my wonderful flying pig........
Topic: RE: Oh Yoo Hoo! Let's have a ROLL CALL!
Hi...I'm Deb and had lap-band surgery with Dr Tersingi 10/28/2008....still learning to pay attention to real hunger and listen to my band! So far I've gone from 26/28 to size 18....what a difference in energy. My next goal is to exercise regularly...and to show up at the OH support group on 4/30.
