They wouldn't say but I'm thinking that I will check with my insurance company in a couple of weeks. They should be able to tell me, I hope.

That's too bad. Do you know where she's going? Did they give you an option of staying with her? My doctor left as well, but I'm following him to his new clinic which actually works out well for me cause it's closer.

I just called Oregon Weight Loss for some information & found out that Dr Halpin's last day is tomorrow. She is going to another clinic. They will be sending a letter out to those of us who had our surgery with her.

I had my surgery nearly 15 months ago and am doing very well.

We haven't had any get-togethers since I was pre-op, that I know of.  I started a new job in July 2009 and work Saturdays.  Therefore, the only way I can get to one on any Saturday is if it is scheduled for later in the afternoon.

I don't do Facebook at all and don't intend to do so.

I don't have my updated pic on my avatar because I don't own a digital cam.  Plus, my cell phone does not have a cam.  My cell phone contract has another 4 months to go before I can purchase one with a cam.

I believe that Kaiser offers only RNYs and no longer performs lap-band procedures.

Hi Kelly.  Glad to hear that you're doing well.  Things have been very, very quiet around here lately.  Nothing like back in 2007 when we were all getting our surgeries done.  I don't know if it's that not many people know about this site, not that many people are getting weight loss surgery anymore, everyone who had surgery is doing so well they don't need to think of it anymore, or whatever.  I know I would still like to lose another 25-30 pounds.  Sometimes I see the scale creeping up and panic.  Generally a review of what I'm eating will reveal too many crackers with my cheese, too much cereal instead of a grilled hamburger.  So, I change my behavior and lose the few pounds that creep on.  I need to be more active to get the rest of this weight off, but the Oregon summer of 100 degrees plus is really putting a damper on that!    Waiting for some thunderstorms here and hoping they don't touch off any forest fires!

I have Kaiser through PEBB. I know they cover WLS, but do they cover the lap band specifically?
If not, does anyone know if any of the PEBB plans cover banding?

Topic: RE: Off to the Plastic Surgeon in the Morning!
Well, I've chatted with the Plastic Surgeon (Mark Jewell, very nice man) and my insurance company.  BC/BS says that the doctor should write to them asking for pre-authorization, since I have a nasty puckered and keloided scar that extends from my pubic bone to my lower left ribcage (this is from part of my spinal surgery -- they had to get my damaged discs out through the front).  It would be rather easy to accomplish a tummy tuck while excising the scar -- just have to take a bit more tissue.  Of course, there would be some lipo too, so I could pay for that part.  It would be great to have most of this paid for by insurance.  The cost isn't too horribly bad, but I'd like to pay as little as possible -- of course!  It would definitely be nice to get rid of this scar.  It can be very painful, especially when I cough or sneeze.  I just hope the new scar would heal more nicely.

I understand that your consult has since been completed.  Hopefully you will be getting what you wanted.

Best of luck, Linda!
