skim milk diet
Tracy,
I just have to put my two cents in................
Before you go on a 6 weeks skim milk diet I woud talk to your surgeon.
Here is what my experience was. I was put on a 3 day liquid diet (that totally sucked so I can only imagine 6 weeks) (I lost 10 lbs and was totally fine through the entire process)
One of my friends was advised to drink protien drinks pre op for a month to help aid weight loss and give the surgeon rom to work (she came out toally fine)
Two friends were allowed to eat right up until midnight the night before.
I rather enjoyed my "Last Supper"(s). I regret not having pizza before hand, so I suggest you get it all out of your system now.
Some things you may never be able to eat again.
In a nut shell your surgeon and/or nutritionist is going to tell you exactly what they feel YOU should be doing not anyone else.
PS My nut said avoiding read meat will shrink the liver prior to surgery so everyone has an opinion I guess.
Best of luck on your journey.
Kristie
Ladys, your freaking me out
I appreciate your comments and suggestions. Just an update: I saw the nutritionist on Thursday and she told me my surgeon will modify the skim milk diet to meet my specific needs. She also told me it is a good idea to get used to following this sort of thing due to post op requirements. It is NOT 6 weeks. At the most it is 4 weeks and again it will be modified to meet my needs. I am concerned my blood sugars will get too low because of my diabetes. The nutritionist said it might be different for diebetics. Thank you so much for your support!!!!!!! Tracy
