Hello, I'm new here....
My name is Tonya Libby (soon to go back to my maiden name).
I will actually be having my surgery here in Baltimore (after my husband asked for a divorce, funny, usually surgery comes first, hehe)... But I will be relocating back to my hometown of Portland at the end of the year (at the latest). I can't wait to be home and I think this forum will be a big help to me in the coming months, as I will have peers in both places to talk to until I get home. I've researched the RNY for a couple years now but finally decided on it when my father passed away last December of a 5th heart attack and since his body and mine are identical, I didn't want to die like he did, he was only 68, with his first heart attack at 46. I couldn't go through that. I want children once I'm remarried (being positive) and I want to be healthy.
My surgeon's office has everyone, nutritionists, exercise physiologists and internists who work together (with a psychotherapist down the hall) to make sure that every patient stays on track, with phentremine I've lost 56lbs since 6/30 and hopefully, on 1/19, I will have my date for surgery. My BMI is still 46 and 306lbs is what my surgeon wanted me to be at before surgery (high was 356) and I found out this morning, I've lost another 6lbs. I'm changing everyday and finding that I'm enjoying life so much more. I'm wearing clothes I bought 2yrs ago and could NEVER wear. So, at least I don't have to buy new clothes yet.
I hope I make some friends on this board. And maybe even run into people I knew years ago.

Hi Tonya, and welcome to the Oregon board! I hope you will continue to post here so that we can get to know you better. Portland is such a nice area to live in. I live in one of the neighboring bergs around it. Let us know when you move here. In the meantime, like I said, keep posting, and let us know when you get a surgery date set!

Thank you Peg, I can't wait to be home, my mom is in Coos Bay but will be moving up to Portland once I get settled. I really get homesick when it rains here, I MISS the rain!!!! There are pluses to living here, but it's not Oregon and I can't wait to get back. I will be going to the surgeon on 1/19 so I'm keeping my fingers crossed I will have a date. I will keep posting here!!!
Thanks,
Tonya
