Hi, I was wondering if those of you who are banded vs. RNY can tell me if you had to do it again, would you had done the RNY instead. Why? Are you as successful as you thought you would be, or is it hard to control the amount of food you are eating? Does anyone that has been approved for the LAP BAND have Aetna PPO? Thanks

I was banded 14 months ago and would do it again in a heart beat ! I had surgery at 8am and was walking out of there at 11am. I love the idea that its adjustable because everyone is so different. Just like when your rings become loose as you loose weight your band becomes loose as well because there is fat around your stomach and as you loose weight so does the fat. I've had three adjustments in 14 months. The adjustments are a breeze and If in two years I for some reason have put on weight they can adjust it. With the By-pass if the stomach is re-streached they cant do any thing to make it shrink again unless you have surgery or have it banded. I have a friend who stretched his out very sad. So for me I like knowing that any time in my life I get an adjustment to help mestay on track. You really have no choice on controling the amount of food you eat as the band is in control ! If you over eat you are misrable and usually get sick but in reality its like having thankgiving dinner every day because you feel so full and are not hungry for while. I havent heard of any insurance paying for the band.Good luck to you.If you have any questions just email me. I love my band ! Gail
