**Friday Roll Call**
Hi Oregon. Wow! It sure was great to see so many of us posting to the Thursday Roll Call. Let's keep it going! I'm going to put the turkey in the oven this morning and then finish wrapping the last of my gifts. I'm almost done! Yay!
Here are some QODs (Questions of the Day)
1. How are you handling the stress at this time of year?
2. Are you going to a support group?
3. Are you left-handed or right-handed?
++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++++
1. Being retired has really helped my stress level. However, I find there are so many temptations all around me to eat. Getting out of the house is my best way to destress because I am either visiting someone or out walking...two of my favorite things to do.
2. I am really hoping that we can get a support group going after the holidays. Joy and I met one time, and Patty and Tee met another time. Maybe we can plan it so that we can all get together and set up a time and place here in the Portland area that works for most of us. Input please!
3. I am right-handed, but I do several things left-handed too. My strength things are right-handed, but some of my fine-motor skills are left-handed. Some of that may just be the way my mom taught me since she was a "leftie" in disguise!
Have a great day, Oregon, and keep us posted on what's going on in your life.
Hugs,
Peg

1. I don't feel particularly stressed. Stress is not a bugaboo for me. I feel more stressed when I am not juggling several projects.
2. No. I'll get together for occasional coffees but not into the group experience, per se.
3. Right handed
We are planning a New Year's trip over to Vancouver Island to visit relatives and friends.

1) I'm kind of like Tee...but mine is more polarized. I am most stressed when dealing with mundane things (getting rebates in, for example) than with major stressors. I thrive in an environment with mass chaos, such as where I work as a police dispatcher, but floundered in an office setting where I had an in/out box and filing. For me, I always wait until the last minute and then do everything all at once. This year I'm sick so who knows if anything will get done on time.
2) I head up the local support group here in Medford that has been around for years. There are many other groups here though since there are now surgeons in the area, and they have their own groups. I'm hoping to find someone who wants to take over the reins though. Working nights and juggling meetings has become a nightmare of sorts. I switched the meeting nights so I wouldn't have to take time off, but then I got ordered to work overtime for the last 2 meetings. Can't take time off when you are the overtime girl!
3) Right handed but I love challenging myself with my left hand. I spent time when I was a kid trying to write left handed just for fun. I did okay, but the writing wasn't near as nice. I don't know why I wanted to do that...just seemed like fun to me. In hindsight, I suppose it could only help with dexterity down the road.

1. How are you handling the stress at this time of year?
I haven't been experiencing any Christmas or holiday stress, except when it comes to the large number of potlucks at work. I'm just over 2 weeks post-op, so walking by all of these cookies, cakes, pies, candy, chocolate, etc. has been really difficult. I've been very good though and have only eaten what I'm supposed to eat!
2. Are you going to a support group?
I work with about 10 people who have had a WLS surgery of some kind, so it's like we're one big support group for one another. I guess I'd have to say "yes."
3. Are you left-handed or right-handed?
Right-handed, unless of course it's broken, then I'm left-handed
