** Monday Roll Call** Brrr!

Good morning Oregon! Well, are you at home or at work? For many of us, we are home in our snug houses out of harm's way. If you are out and about, please be careful! I "borrowed" a couple of Questions of the Day (QOD) from another board. Here they are! 1. For the women: Do you wear make-up? If so, when did you start wearing it? For the men: Do you have a beard and/or facial hair? If so, when did you start wearing it? 2. Do you drink bottled or tap water? 3. Back in the good ol' days, what did it cost for something you purchased? My Answers: 1. I have worn lipstick since I started the 7th grade. I wear it, eye make-up, and a little blush when needed. Oh, and my hair is now dark auburn! ( I am determined that I will probably be one of those little old ladies with no gray....don't know what color, but there will be color!) 2. I prefer bottled water, but the frugal side of me makes me fill up an empty bottled water container with my own tap water. 3. I'm a grandmother of 56, so everything cost less. I think the most amazing thing to look back on was the trip I took with my folks and my sister back to South Dakota in the summer of 1968. There was a gas war going on...cheap gas...and my dad bought regular at 25 cents a gallon! Oh, the good old days! Actually, I am so glad to be living today in the modern era with up-to-date medical facilities and such. Just think. We would still be stuck in our old heavy bodies back then, and some of us, without modern day medical intervention, wouldn't even be here. Have a great day today, and stay warm! Peg

I'm still here, for the time being anyway LOL. I love wearing lipstick too. Just kidding. 1. have a goatee. Started wearing it because it kind of hid a little bit of my pudgy face. 2.Bottled water. However I will drink tap water, whichever is most convenient. 3.I remember some of the cars I bought. Are classices today. And they are worth 5 times today what they cost back then. However, adjusting for inflation and such, they are probably the same price. Now houses are another thing. Can't even afford to buy one today on my lonesome. Guess I'll be an apartment dweller until I shrink enough to fit in a nice doll house. Jer

I hear ya on the housing cost thing Jerry! I can't believe how expensive things have gotten. I think it's worth it to buy a condo nowdays and build equity that way. If I were starting off today that is what I would do and flip until I was able to buy in to a nicer home. The other thing that I found interesting is that new homes generally cost less than established counterparts, so that is a good way to go too... Good luck on the dollhouse idea though. Ya never know...some of them are mighty fancy looking! Dina

Not really. But I'll take up a hobby for a month or two with little encouragement though!

It is snug in our house as well! This is the first time that I have answered a message, but yours sounded so fun! 1. I wore a minimal amount of makeup through my teen years, and really started in my 30's and 40's. I use Mary Kay to cover my age these days, and still wear just enough to see my eyes unless I go out. 2. I;m with you! I love Aquafina, but I fill it with tap water and chill it. Aren't we blessed in our area to have water we can actually drink from the tap? 3. It's funny you remember the 25 cent gas, too. I am 53 and also a grandmother (my favorite job!) I remember also going to the store as a child and getting a quart of milk for a quarter as well. Thanks for bringing me out of my shell....I see Dr. Patterson on Thursday to schedule my surgery. I am so excited!!!

Hi Sue. I'm so glad you posted. It is just too cool that you see Dr. Patterson on Thursday! I went to a nutritionist at the bariatric clinic she is a part of at Good Samaritan Hospital. I had my surgery there in August, and the nursing staff are wonderful. Do post and let us know when you have a date....and any other details you want to post! This must be a very exciting time in your life thinking about weighing a whole lot less a year from now. Take care, and stay warm! Peg

I did Mary Kay too for awhile but then my friend got me hooked on Bare Escentuals and I have to say I will never go back to liquid foundation again ever. This stuff is incredible!!!! Dina

Where do you get that foundation? I dont use MK liquid, I use cream to powder - it's like a pancake makeup. I am always looking for something good and new.

I have no doubt you'd adore Bare Minerals (Bare Escentuals). I get most of mine on eBay as it's cheapest there, but you can also get it on QVC. There are some great starter sets on QVC. You can also get sample sizes on eBay to try. Once you figure out your shade, I'd go for the big guns and buy the XL of all the products you want. There was a television infomercial on that has a good starter kit, too....comes with the brushes and everything. They do have nice brushes. Let me know if you need help finding anything if you would like to try it. I know it's funny but just like they say on the infomercial (and it always sounds like hype to me), but I have had numerous people comment on my skin since I started using it and asking what I did...which then turns into them using it. It's the first time in my life someone has done that, and it's happened several times now. Dina
