Good Morning, Oregon!!
Is everyone warm enough this morning? I arose to find a thin blanket of frost covering everything outside. Being new to Oregon, it was a big deal, so I took a picture of all it's beauty.
Well, here it is, hump day. Check in with us and let us know how you are doing. Any plans for this weekend? Any WLS related concerns or Wow moments to report?
Give us a shout and let's get to know each other a little better!

Hi Joy and everyone. What a beautiful day it was today! I just posted to the note you posted, Joy, letting people know that we had a new addition to our family. My niece had a baby girl yesterday morning at 5:30 at Meridian Park Hospital. I spent all night the night before, then went back to the hospital again yesterday with my sister after about 1 1/2 hours sleep. I went back again today, and I think my tour of duty (actually, it was a joy) is over. Mommy, Daddy, and baby girl leave for home tomorrow morning.
I am really bummed that I missed the lunch yesterday! I hope we can check our schedules to see when we can plan the next one.
In answering your questions, Joy, I am surprised at how well I am doing eating-wise. I never thought I'd be able to handle the kinds of foods I can eat after my surgery. I think I am concerned at how much I can eat. I don't know what my plans are for the weekend, but I hope it involves family.
You all take care, and I hope to see more of us writing on this board.
Peg

Yes, I sometimes wonder about the amount of foods I am able to eat, though I continue to slowy lose weight. What a gift.
I hope that others find their way back to our site and post more. We all have so mu*****ommon and sharing is important!

I'm glad you have a more possitive outlook on the cold weather. With my new puppy I have to stand outside (often in my nightgown) waiting to reward him for going outside. Every couple of hours. He's doing so good and I know it will be worth it when he gets all trained, but it has made me extra aware of how COLD it has been!
I went to a friends house for a "Wine and Whine" party tonight. Everybody brings a bottle of wine and a white elephant gift. It was good to get a whole lota women in one place to yak and complain about all it takes to get X-mas off the ground. It's not too often anymore that I see anyone who hasn't seen me recently. Tonight I saw many people I haven't seen in over a year. The reactions are something you experience a lot in the first year when your loss is so dramatic, but eventually it is not so often. It was a great reminder of how far I have come (just by the looks of surprise and some flat out not knowing me except that they read my name tag). It feels really great. It also can feel pretty weird and makes me glad that part has mostly passed. I had one glass of wine and samples most of the stuff on the table - revisiting the shrimp lots. Since it was my "dinner" I am not worried about it, and as always when I recount it doesn't add up to much quantity wise.
Tomorrow night I am throwing a cookie exchange for a bunch of sixth graders. I've been making favors (post wine drinking) and tomorrow I will be doing some baking. Can't wait for Friday to get over with. The last week of school is hectic with lots of deadlines and teachers gifts, etc.
This weekend will be another gymnastics meet, though this time it will be here in Tigard.
Patty
Patty,
You are one very busy lady! Sounds like you did really well at the wine and whine party. (I love the title). Shrimp is always a good choice.
Well, I am new to the cold weather and my attitude might just change in the future, but it IS beautiful when viewed from a warm home. I am going to need to buy some winter clothes for the first time in my life. Oh well, guess I need to go shopping!
I hope we get another chance to meet. I am so sorry about the other day. Have a great week!

It IS cold.
I remember when I first moved from the LA area into Canada in 1980. The days were so dark and so cold. Eveything was new. Never had been in the snow before, either. Then, it became magical! My challenge was/is cold feet. I never wore shoes unless I had to in LA. Still, the first thing I do is take my shoes off when I come in the house (this is a source of contention with my Washington bred husband!) and I often run around in bare feet to get the mail or run out to the garage.
I finally broke down and got some of those shearling slippers and shearling boots. You know those uggly (sic) ones, right? Unfortunately, they were hidden from the visiting puppy last night and I can't find them. Sheesh. Popsicle toes this morning.
Plans for the weekend include a trip to Seattle to meet my cousin half way who coming down from BC and then my husband's 60th birthday party which will be the opportunity to exchange/deliver gifts to his family. We have an invitation to a Christmas dinner on Sunday in Northern Washington. I doubt we will make the drive.
Then, it is likely to be a fairly calm week around here. No particular plans for Christmas. I am not huge into Christmas, anyway, but we have a new DIL who is so I am doing what I can to generate some internal spirit for a holiday I don't feel invested in. since I do not identify with Christanity, especially lately, at all. Oh well.....bah humbug and all that jazz.....
Lunch the other day was a real treat, Patty. I'm looking forward to the next one. Maybe after the New Year, y'all?
Congratulations, Peg, on the new addition to your family!

Good morning Tee!
Boy, can I relate to the cold toes!!! I also bought some shearling slippers. They help, but I still feel "cold to the bone"! I can also relate to your feelings about the season. Recent events have me feeling a little jaded.
Have a great time in Seattle and drive VERY carefully!! Yes, let's make a date for lunch after the holidays. I promise to show up!
