Pain when hungry - is this normal??
When my pouch is empty, I experience pain around the center of my chest and back. I now associate this pain with hunger and alleviate it with having to eat. My pouch can only hold less than 4 oz. of cottage cheese.
Does anyone else have this experience?
Please let me know if this is normal. If so, will it go away in time?
Thanks
Lara

Hi Lara,
I have had pain like you describe. It may be something you'd want to tell your doc about. My doc had me take protonix 2 x a day. I usually take it just once. ( it reduces the stomach acid )
After 2 wks. the pain went away.
Hope you find some relief. I'll say a little prayer for ya.
Best Wishes for successful weightloss.

I get pain similar to what you are talking about sometimes. My physical therapist mentions all the time about tightness when she works on my ribs. She said it is common with those who have had wls. I cannot remember exactly what she told me but in my mind it has to do with scar tissue and pulling and tugging going on. I don't know if that is accurate though. Either way I know that when I get hungry and tired I feel like I have to massage my abdomen up high where my pouch is. I really noticed it last night a lot. And my back was killing me.
I have a feeling that it might be more common than we may hear but probably not thought of as being associated with the wls.
