Hello Oregon! I am a recent arrival from Virginia and will be having my WLS at OSHU with Dr. Cliff Devenney. I have completed everything needed except for the sleep study set for July 12 and the GI procedure set for July 14. The shrink pronounced me marginally sane today so it should be a go soon. We are due to leave for Yuma in October but if this show doesn/t get on the road pretty quick I may wind up having surgery and skipping town the next day. LOL I have lurked this site for ages and picked a rotten day to start posting...got a broken wrist that's still mending. I truly can type better than this and sometimes I can even spell correctly. I'll do better as I go along. When I can type longer I will get a profile going. I wanted to inquire if anyone else has had any dealings with Dr. Devenney's group and if so was it a good experience?...bad?...indifferent? Anyway...hello all you lovely people...you are all so brave and inspirationial I enjoy reading your comments very much. Any answers will br appreciated. Carolyn

Cliff Deveny did my surgery and I think the world of him. He is thoughtful, thorough and extremely skilled. He is a former organ transplant surgeon has earned his stripes in the surgery department. He cares a lot about his patients and he is available to you if you need him. They follow their patients for five years. If you want a referrral for PCP follow up, Linda L.(nurse practioner at Emma Jones at OHSU) is phenomenal. This lady knows her stuff, bariatrics-wise. The nutritionist they sent me to was not impressive. I didn't find that she was helpful at all. Welcome to Oregon. You'll love it here. tee

I also had surgery with Dr. Clifford Deveney at OHSU. In my opinion he's a very caring and excellent surgeon. He has a good team in place and I found his office staff to be very considerate and tactful when it came to weight sensitive issues. I never felt uncomfortable with them because of my weight.

thanks so much for the info. They called me today and moved my sleep study from July 12 to tomorrow night. All I lack then is the G.I. procedure on the 14th. Hope they find a slot and move that forward as well. lol I suppose like everyone else, i'm impatient and just want this over with. Thanks again for the recommendations in relation to Dr. Devenney. I am so glad to hear he is highly thought of. carolyn

Hello Carolyn, Dr. Deveney was my surgeon also. Dr. O'rouke assisted him. That surgery will have been two years ago as of July 15th. I have lost half of me. From 310 to 155. What a wonderful journey it has been. Some ups and some downs, I am sorry to say. All in all I would do it again in a minute. Just wish I had done it sooner rather than waiting till I was 52. Dr. Deveney did lap RNY surgery on me. 9 mos. later I had a blocked, perforated bowel down here at home in Roseburg. So ended up with a major surgery here and Dr. Hansen did that. He was great also. I was pretty sick, but bounced back after about 2 1/2 mos. Continued to lose weight and I think it took me a total of 15 mos. to lose all my weight. Then in Feb. Dr. Deveney ( mostly the residents) did my next surgery at OHSU which was hernia repair and tummy tuck (removal of skin and fat) at the bottom of my tummy. Actually it only weighed 2 1/2 lbs. Everything is now healed up and flat. Yipee. I don't want any more cutting. Eventually I would like to have my arms and face done, but we will see. As far as Dr. Deveney goes he is great. I liked O'Rouke also. He is also at OHSU. Good wishes to you. Sounds like you are almost there. I wish you the best. Email me if you need any info. [email protected] Bless ya, Tonya
