Get togethers?

Hi all. This is Joy again.... the one who is moving to Oregon soon. We will be driving up on June 2nd to look at more houses. Keep your finger's crossed for us. I can't wait to retire in your beautiful state! I was just wondering if any of you ever have any get-togethers? I know that in California many OHers have picnics and such, but I haven't seen anything on the Oregon site about it. Thanks to everyone for responding to my previous posts. Have a great weekend! Joy

Hi Joy, Welcome to beautiful Oregon. What part are you thinking of retiring in? I'm located in beautiful McMinnville in the heart of Oregon's wine country. It is very beautiful here and the community is open and accepting. I love it here because I'm in the country yet close enough to the airports, shopping and other events. As far as get togethers, well, I don't really know that many here who have had WLS. I just started attending a support group in town, and I'm sure there must be many more out there, but I think we are a bunch of rebels up here who don't organize well Welcome again. Hi Pat, Thanks for the welcome. I have posted and talked to many Oregonians on this site. I am 57 and my husband is 62. We are looking around Hillsboro, Tigard, Tualatin, Beaverton and a few other towns. We need to live within a 30 mile radius of Kaiser Hospital in order to keep our insurance, so we are somewhat limited. Joe and I are driving up this next weekend to meet with our real estate person. We will be looking around, hoping for the perfect home to retire in. Yes, I noticed that this board isn't as active as the California Board. Perhaps it's because the people in Oregon are out, living their lives???!! hahaha! Anyway, I look forward to being your "neighbor". It's such a beautiful state! Best wishes! Joy
