Hi all, I will be moving to Oregon within the next few months. I have been lurking on this board site, hoping to hear about other people's journey's. It seems like there are only a few posters here. Heavens! There have been no posts for almost two days. Is everyone too busy out there? Joy

Joy, Welcome to Oregon! I live in Tualatin and love it. We moved in December from the Seattle area. I've actually been working in Oregon for the last eight years so we're very familiar with the area. We picked Tualatin because it is south of the Portland metro area and close to everything. Good luck on your search for a home. Kathy 250/202/160

Hi Kathy! Thanks for replying! Yes, Tualatin seems to be a great place to settle. Is there a support group anywhere near you? I am so looking forward to becoming one of your neighbors. My husband is retiring, but I think I will be looking for a job there. I have been checking out the job market online and I seem to fit a few of the qualifications. Take care! Joy

Hi Joy! My step-dad works for Kaiser, he works at the clinic by Sunnyside hospital but has worked at a lot of the different facilities that Kaiser has here. We all live in northwest Portland, kinda between Beaverton and Hillsboro. There are some really nice new housing developments that are near us and it's close to the freeway. If you have any questions about the area let me know or I can get you in touch with my parents as well. You will love it here!

Thanks Dayna! This sounds like the area we are looking in right now. It sure is beautiful there. If the housing development is close to the freeway, is there a problem with noise? Yes, I think I will love it there, rain and all! Thanks, Joy

It's not so close to the freeway that you can hear everything but close enough that when you want to go somewhere you are only a couple minutes away. Plus they have designed a couple shopping areas that are less than five min away with grocery stores, shops, resteraunts and hair/nail salons so everything you could possibly need is right there. We have several parks within walking distance, lots of walking trails and several health clubs close by if you are into that. The closest Kaiser clinic is the Sunset clinic and it's only a few minutes away. On the west side of portland, kaiser uses a local hospital which is pretty close. The only Kaiser hospital is on the other side of town. I'm not sure what your price range is or what you are looking for but they are also building some really cute townhouses near by too. There are also plenty of houses for sale in the other neighborhoods that are slightly older and have more yard. A lot of these new houses have no yard! Good luck on your house hunting!
