BC/BS OR

Has anyone here had luck getting BC/BS of Oregon to pay for WLS? I am prepared for private pay but would like to know if I have any possiblity of getting insurance to pay.

Missy - I am state of Oregon Regence BCBS and there is no way in the world you'll get them to pay if that is who you have. Depending on which employer you have, sometimes they pay. But if they have the iron clad exclusion, you won't get around it. I went to Mexico and went self-pay... Dina

Ditto! No way of getting BC/BS to pay...I had the option to switch, I work for the State of Oregon and they offer Kaiser Permanente...Now in their program! Good Luck!!

Missy: Like someone else said, it depends on your plan. I have BC/BS Federal and they DO pay for it, albeit AFTER the surgery is done. The surgery must be MEDICALLY NECESSARY......you have to be at least 100 lbs. overweight.
