This is day two of the clear liquids and everything just runs through me. It's like I had a laxative. I'm not hungry anymore - but if I drink anymore broth I'll throw up!! Monday is surgery.

Hi, Thank you for the info - at least I guess this is "normal"?? Yes, tomorrow Dr Hong will perform my gastric bypass at around 9:30AM. I am the second up - are you first? It's so nice to share our experiences. Meanwhile - liquids for the day. It looks like water is all I can handle lately.

Good luck to both of you, Lara and N8tiveone! I am sorry I have been out of town and kind of out of touch here on the board. It's neat to know that you are both going on the same morning. If anyone was in the next room from me, going through the exact same timing as me - I had no idea. You will be in very good hands with Dr. Hong. He is a really great doctor, and will give you all the time you need to express yourself and your needs post-op. I am days away from my 4/07/04 anniversary. My experience has been nothing but positive. I lost 160 pounds and have regained my health. It is weird, but those early months seem like a million miles away, like it all went so fast. The recovery challenges were pretty much confined to the first 10 days post-op, and were actually less than when I was post-op from my C-section with a nursing baby on board. Now that was tough! I know I was lucky in having no complications, and hope you both experience the same. My main offer of advice is to be really easy on yourself and understand that as with any surgery, you must allow time and rest to heal. Don't think you've got to unload that dishwasher or not take another nap. Keep the water going in, I know that is probably the biggest most important thing in those early days. Also, you need the protein to heal. It takes time for your body to get over the anesthesia, and general insult of any surgery. Rest, drink, and let others take over anything you can delegate. You are about to experience an amazing ride...I am so happy for you! Patty
