Be exra careful with aspirin! I know now first hand. I almost passed away on Monday due to two bleeding ulcers! I took an aspirin a day before surgery because I was large and had hypertension and high blood pressure...I continued taking the aspirin after surgery because no one told me not to. Please be warned not to take aspirin every day after surgery...I know! Wow--what a frightening experience. So happy it turned out okay. You just never know do you? I have black/green poo now because of the iron, so now I'll worry if I start to feel bad. Thanks for sharing, Chris. Pam

Chris - I am SO thankful you are alive and kicking right now. What a harrowing experience. I cannot imagine what you went through. Just kind of curious: Did you feel them cauterize the ulcers when they were scoping you or did they have some sort of anesthesia for that? I am frankly surprised and a bit angry at your bariatric doc for not telling you about not taking aspirin. That is something that is so basic, the only thing I can think of is they just thought everyone knew. Wrong move! In case no one went on to tell you further, you aren't supposed to take any NSAIDS either. That means no Aleve, Ibuprofen (Advil), Orudis, Naprosyn, etc. They can also cause ulcers. Thank you for sharing your story - I am sure it is going to help others who haven't gotten the word as well! Dina

Tylenol does not cause stomach irritation. That is what I was told to take. Joy
