thanksgiving day and checking in
Hi everyone....
wow, are we really all so busy with our lives we can't stop in and say hello? *OR* are we too depressed with the way things are going???
for me, I admit it's a whole lot of both!!
I used to enjoy thanksgiving so much.. hell it was a day to eat anything and everything and not think twice about it.. it's what the day is about "FODD"... oh yeah, we are suppose to give thanks and such but really it's all about the food!! especially to those of us who are food addicts...
last thanksgiving wasn't too hard for me, I was 7 months post op and scared to death of dumping.. so I was a good girl for the most part.. I did have stuffing and other to-high-in-carbs related food but "NO" sugar.. I was still loosing at that point so it was pretty easy to stay good.. I was still in the mind set that "NOTHING TASTES AS GOOD AS SKINNY FEELS" and yada yada..
at 19 months post op and back up to 154 lbs this morning (my lowest was 144 which I seen for a split second in time) I am nervous as hell about all the dam goodies... I still do not eat pure sugar. all the candy I enjoy is sugar free.. but oh those cookies and pies and and and and and are already calling my name.. not to mention those evil carb related foods which is truely my demon..
so I am going to make me some special treats.. hope they turn out better than they did last year.. LOL
I am cooking dinner at my house.. I of course will make enough food for 30 + people and only 13 will be eating!! I didn't get fat for no reason after all... but unlike past years I will be sending home the majorty of food to those who are coming over.. and a few people who aren't coming over have requested some of the left overs..
so what is everyone else going to do? what are YOU making/doing just for YOU??
I am going to tell my self 100x per day over the next week "THAT NOTHING TASTES AS GOOD AS SKINNY FEELS"... I want to believe it again.. that's the other special thing I am doing for "ME"....
happy thanksgive everyone
Theresa

HI Theresa!!
Things have been very busy with work!! I get off easy and am going to the in-laws this year, and then to Mom's on Saturday, so there will be TWO days of eating. I am making sf goodies and lower-carb versions of things I like too. (I am learning to 1/2 and 1/4 recipes now!!)
Things are moving, but slower as far as the loss is going. I am down 165 since Feb 16th, so I have nothing to complain about!
Hope you "demons" stay at bay this season and keep smiling!
Have a Happy Thanksgiving!

Hi sweety,
you are doing so well..
I never learned how to 1/2 and 1/4 recipes... still to darn lazy and that would require math.. OH NO!!!
I havn't see you since I think it was about 2 or 3 weeks out from surgery? you need to send me a pic so I can see you...
have a great thanksgiving... 2 days of eating... just remember OUCH!! LOL

Happy turkey weekend!
I am celebrating my birthday, with a candle in the pumpkin pie! Historically, my family knows better than to think they don't still have to get me my Baskin Robbins birthday cake, even if there are pies in the house. A big change this year, I said no cake is needed.
I'm right where you were last Thanksgiving, but don't have as healthy of a fear of eating at this point, as you did. Rice and breads have never been a problem for me, and as of a few weeks ago, I discovered sugar doesn't seem to be either. Information I didn't need to know!
I am not so worried about Thanksgiving (including the piece of pie), so long as I can get back to good choices and not make it a whole weekend of eating bad. I am trying to lose the "all or nothing" attitude I used to have.
We are going to be just us, (husband and three kids) for dinner. Then we are going to see Christmas with the Kranks after we eat.
Have a great weekend.
Patty
Hi patty,
HAPPY BIRTHDAY.... and great new picture!!
dam, I am sorry you had to find out sugar doesn't give you a problem.. but you know what?? just becuase you didn't dump on it the one time or the last 10 times DOES NOT mean you won't the next time... (does that give you any healthy fear back? LOL) I still on occasion dump on sugar alcohols.. (not real alcohol unfortuantly LOL) but the kind with malitol, sorbitol and all that.. it's very strange!! the only white refined sugar that I know of that I have had is in BBQ sauce's and other condiments which havn't been a problem but I don't think you can eat enough of a condiment to get that much sugar out of them.. EWWWWWWWWW!!
rice and breads have never given me much of a problem... I still however, get sick if I eat solid meats to fast and don't CHEW them enough.. it will get stuck and I won't get relief until I puke it up.. nice huh? happend just the other night.. oh the pain.. you'd think I would learn after 19 months!! nope not me!! LOL
well geeze on that note, enjoy... LOL..

Theresa:
Have a Happy Thanksgiving. I know it is going to be hard but at least you have family and friends to be with. Our only daughter lives in Sunnyvale, CA and isn't coming for Thanksgiving so we are going to a friend's house for dinner. Cooking for two is very boring! Well, cooking when our daughter is here isn't much more fun---she doesn't eat meat! I tell you, that child was switched at birth.
She is actually thin and healthy. Now let's see, I trained her right and screwed up with me. Go figure.
Anyway, don't beat yourself up just do the best you can. It's really all we can do.
Pam
