Hi my name is Joy.I am a work at home mom with 4 kids and a loving husband.I live in Crescent City,CA. I am trying to get in to see my PCP to get started with getting this surgery done,But she happens to be on vacation till after Thanksgiving.I have decided if I want be around to watch my kids grow up this is a nesscity.
Welcome Joy! I used to live in Brookings....small world! I recognize your name for some reason...have you posted here before? I am sure I've seen that last before!
So what do you do for work inside the home? That has to be great being able to do that! Of course, being a full time mom to 4 kids would be job enough for me!!!

Hi Dina,
I just found this group, but there are alot of Sturdavant's in this area too.I am a Home Health worker for my father in law ,he is a diabetic dyalisis amputee. If anything prompted me to have this surgery it has been watching him with his Diabetes,I am diabetic and I do not want to ever be put on dyalisis. So I figure I hate being over weight and this will help me get over my diabetes.
As for the 4 kids they all are in school as of this year (FINALLY)I actually get alittle break during the day, when my fil is at dyalisis.

Joy -
I hear you on the diabetes. I crossed that bridge about a year before I had surgery and fought to keep it under control with diet alone. I was so disappointed I wasn't able to avoid it. But I'm much better now - don't have any problems with my blood sugar. I was able to keep it under control enough and then after surgery it's as if I never crossed that line now.
My FIL was with us before he died a few years ago and had to go to dialysis a few times a week also. He was so very sick though and ended up with sepsis. I think if he hadn't been so stubborn about getting medical attention when he had his stroke, he would have made it okay though. But he was so afraid of going to the hospital that my MIL didn't get him in until it was almost too late.
Sounds like you do have your hands full. I hope you are able to have enough help so that when you get your surgery you won't feel obligated to exert yourself physically. That's one of the things I think that I see often is people who don't let themselves take the needed time off in order to heal. That can be dangerous, needless to say.
Keep us updated on your status! Hopefully it will be a quick journey for you!
