Support grouP
I live in eagle creek which is between estacada and sandy . Is there any support groups out this way? Any in Gresham area? Anyone out this way interested in getting together out here? My surgery date is nov.2, so I have no experience with wls yet.. But I know I'll need support after. Please let me know and lets get some support going on out here. Thanks and God Bless. Mary
Hi Mary,
I live in the Boring area. I have been trying to find someone out this general direction to get together with, but no luck so far. I am waiting for my insurance approval so you are farther ahead in this adventure than I am. I am also looking for someone who is interested in water areobics. I swim at Mt. Hood Aquatic center Mon., Wed., and Fri. at 9:00am. If you are interested, let me know. Are you available to get together during the day? Evenings are not good for me. Hope to hear from you soon. Tanna
Tanna, so glad to hear from you and Im so excited your so close. I would love to go swimming with you, tell me what I need to do. Im not working right now so Im free except for tues. am.(bible study). Anyway if we get enough Im going to look for a place to meet. When I was attending overeaters ann. we met at the Boring fire dept. I like am meeting idea too. God Bless Mary
Hi Mary, so glad to hear you are interested in swimming with me. I attend Mt. Hood Aquatic Center Mon., Wed., and Fri. at 9:00am. Their number is 503-491-7243. You can call and check out the prices and register. They do have a drop-in program and a punch card program. So if you wanted to start before your surgery you wouldn't loose any money when you are out for recovery. How about getting together next week to chat? We could meet in town somewhere. Monday and Wednesday is best for me. After swimming ofcourse..LOL
Enjoy the sun and have a great day.
Tanna
Hi Kathleen!
It's nice to see a pic of you...to go with the message!
I attend a support group...it alternates between Beaverton and OHSU. My surgeon has a support group, but I think it's only for his patients..and he's in SE, which would be closer for you! I'll find out if it's restricted to his patients....since it's at the hospital, it may not be. I haven't made it there yet because it's so far away.
My support group is a mix of RNY's and DS's, male and female. Quite a few of them are very social, and get together outside of the group. I find it very helpful, to validate what I'm going thru and to get info, and have fun!

I live in Boring and would be very interested in a support group that isn't run by Kaiser. Keep me informed on dates and times. I've been to several support groups that are run by Kaiser Permanente. Mostly they were about pre-ops getting info from post-ops. They did start a post-op group, but I've only been able to attend one of those.
I'd love a support group that wasn't JUST about sharing personal experiences, I'd like to also talk about issues and trying to help each other thru them.
I'm available on Mon or Wed evenings.
Nothing to do with support groups. I am so surprised to see so many people from Boring. I have an Aunt and Uncle that live there, and when I was a kid I thought it was a joke that they lived there. I mean I figured it had a different name, but was just a boring town. They have lived there for around 30 years... Now that I have been there a few times and know, I don't get the giggles about it as much, but I really thought my Dad was pulling a fast one on me when I was 5. Always telling me we were going to Boring, Oregon.
