Tammy, do you go to a gym? They have a machine at most of them that is the equal to sit-ups, but your sitting up, then bending down, it's supposed to be less stressful, of course you need to do MORE of them. Also, have you tried that lay-on-the-floor roller thingie to help with sit-ups? I used that once (yes, just ONCE) but I could feel it working..LOL! Just couldn't force myself to do it again. Brandi

Brandi- I do go to a gym, but I usually just walk on the treadmill. I did try the reverse sit up thing and the rolly thing and the big ball, etc. Same result- excrutiating pain. It's like having labor contractions during a charlie horse. I ran 2-5 miles a day with a stress fracture in my foot, so I can usually work out through pain, but this one is impossible. If it's a hernia (or anything else) I wish I could find a way to get rid of it so I can work out more. Tammy

Are you talking about the one that puts a roller on your back? I love that machine...I can really tell when I've been using it. Also really like an ab excerciser we have at home....makes sit ups really easy to do, but I can feel 'em! Of course, the one at the gym, I've always been afraid that when I lean back it'll tip over because I'm too heavy. I can't wait for the day when that doesn't cross my mind. Hope to get with all you guys on a night out soon...and finally meet Bodacious Brandi! Michele

Tammy, You could very well have an adhesion. I had a similiar sensation near where I had had my gallbladder out. Luckily, the surgeon was able to cut through the stuff when he did my WLS. Haven't felt it anymore. I lived with it for ten years, because it was only sometimes, when I did certain things. Patty

Good news! Not a hernia....just a "radicular pain" which just means my nerve roots are going nuts. He said they should calm down eventually, it's quite common. So, I take Motrin for a week or two and things should be better. Best news I've had all day! Thanks for caring and sharing Dina. Michele

Michele, They let you take Motrin? My surgeon said I can never ever take ANY NSAIDs again. Has anyone else tried taking motrin/aspirin, etc. after surgery? I found out I can safely do a lot of things they said I couldn't, like drink alchohol, drink with meals, take pills, etc. Tammy

Dr. Eubanks said Motrin is a concern if I have a family history of ulcers, which I don't. I've read that on other postings. He just told me to cru**** up when I take it so it get absorbed right away. I haven't had any alcohol since surgery, and I quit crushing my pills...I cut them into smaller bits and he said that was okay. As far as drinking with meals, I have had to do it a time or two when something got stuck or was dry so it would push through. I've been told drinking with meals is a no-no because it washes out the food you've eaten and then you don't get the nutritional benefit of it...and it fills you up. Of course, I'm a newbie, so I'm just learning things! BTW...if your friend wants to Karaoke in place that's a little off the wall, go to the Galaxy. If I remember, it's off Burnside in N. Downtown...it was a fun place. Michele
