I'm Back
Hey Everyone!
I am back and feeling great after my lapband surgery on July 6th. Everything went well. I had a few headaches and lots of gas but now I am feeling back to normal. I took my bandages off my incisions this morning and they look so tiny and healthy.
Gotta admit I am getting tired of Protein drinks and soup. My husband is going on a liquid diet me for the next two weeks as a show of support. Cool of him isn't it?
I am drinking: Gatorade, protein drinks (Isopure), soups and lots and lots of water. Having a hard time getting my 500 calories in so the dietician suggested cream based soups - yummy!
Last night it really hit me that I will never be able to take a juge bite of something and swallow it ever again. For me it is the process of eating that fulfills me, the biting, chewing swallowing, etc. that was addictive. I got my mind off of food be keeping busy.
Anyway, good to be back. Thanks for all the support and I missed you guys!
XOXO
Hi Alainia!
Good for you! I am glad to hear everything went well. It really is amazing how little the incisions are - isn't it? Except for the main one on the left side, they were pretty much healed over in a few days.
Yes the early diet gets boring fast, but soon enough it will be a distant memory.
I know everyone is different, but at this point in time, I do feel like I can experience food pleasure again (and yet still be on track for what I am supposed to be eating and how much). After those early days, a little plate with a few different items on it that are things you actually choose, seems like a feast. My tastes have really changed, and I cannot understand how a salad can give me so much food pleasure, but it does. I do alot of them with a variety of protein sources on the top. Raw onions (sorry hubby) tangy dressing, a few croutons for the crunch, and my chewing and taste sensations are feeling very satisfied. Also, I have found spices and condiments are great ways to feel like my meals are still a happening event. I was sure hot and spicy would wreak havoc, and be a thing of the past, but I have had no problem, since about week six.
Sorry to be talking about yummy foods when you are still treading lightly in the soft food zone, but I want to give you some hope that once things heal and you are further down the road, there is a point where things can feel "normal". I find the things that used to do it for me, don't even have a hold on me anymore. I was a Coke addict, and I don't even mourn the fact that I can't drink it now. I never would have believed it.
Keep up the good progress.
Patty
