17 days...30 lbs and I am a bit worried....
Hi everyone,
I am 17 days out and I have lost 30 lbs and this is in part to "upping" lot's of food. Even liquids at times. My surgeon is going to give me a few more days to try and keep foods down and then he will take a look and see if I have a stricture.
Has anyone else had this problem? Don't get me wrong I love the weight loss, but I am getting no nutrients at this time. Vomiting is also painful on the internal stitches.
Thanks again for everyone's continued support and prayer's.
Love,
Theresa S
Hi theresa,
jeeze it sounds like your having a rough time of it..
I didn't have any strictures at all.. but I was constantly neauses (sp?) for the first 2 months.. smells were the worst of all. even "yummy" food smells made me ill.. The only thing I remember hurting my pouch was water (early on).. serious pain. I tried it cold, warm, hot.. the warm worked the best but "YUK"... it took me probably 6 months or more where it didn't "hurt" although it wasn't the same pain as in the begining.. I think that's why I finaly gave up on water and went to decaff coffee..

I had a similar problem and was seen in the ER a couple of times before I started running a fever. Turns out that my liver was "nicked" during surgery and I ended up with a metabolic crisis that included a liver abcess, severe dehydration, depleted vitamin K and other fancy stuff. I was in the hospital for three weeks and was on TPN (nutrition in a bag intravenously)
I am 12 weeks post. Gaining strength every day. Almost normal. Loss of 57 lbs but slow recovery due to complications.
I tried on my husband's jeans last night and they fit! 34/34 levis.
I hope what happened to me is not what happened to you. But, if they don't find a stricture and the symptoms continue (aren't they a b+++?) keep in mind it may be something so off the wall, they rarely see it happen. The big clue is fever.
Every once in a while a smell still gets to me. Oy!

Teresa,
I have been so busy and I have wanted to email you......my other shortie friend!! I hope you are OK, and you get this checked out. It sounds like some people get strictures. I had read that Joanie and the main board who just had her surgery 4 weeks ago or so is having simular problem and that most people get this within the first month after surgery so please call your doctor. Which I am sure you already have. I can't wait to see you....I am less then 1 week away...getting so very nervous.....
Hugs,
Nadine
Thanks Theresa,
I am freakin-out!!!! But it's getting a bit easier. I need to be in a calm state when I have it. I am also excited for all the changes to come. I won't be joining you all this friday because I have too much to get ready and Sunday night before surgery I am going to Tim McGraw concert.....hubba hubba.....! Sorry girls, have fun without me and I will be there next time! I can't believe you are going out after 2 weeks....WOW! Take care.....and get your rest!
Hugs Nadine
PS..I was asking who did Tee's surgery.....she had a nicked something...lol
