eating to much???
HI......... I'm week and a half post-op with a lap RNY by Dr. Patterson. And last night we went to MO's for dinner, I ordered there smallest bowl of clam chowder which was 8oz. And I could not beleive how much of it I ate I would say I eat about 6oz. I did not get sick, I beleive I have never dumped. I felt just fine. However, I did not have anything else to eat all night and was really satisified. But concered that is to much food for this early out!! what do u guys think???? thanks Lynette
Hi lynette,
keep in mind that clam chowder is a soup so there for mostly liquid so that acounts for the amount you've eaten.. I am postive if you were try to eat a 6 oz piece of chicken you would NOT be able to do this.. (YET)
but my concerns for clam chowder is not the amount eaten but rather the clams them selfs.. is this OK with your dr?
they are so rubbery and not easily chewed. do you not have to be on a liquid or pureed stage right now at week and 1/2 post op? I would worry about not chewing them little buggers good enough and they get stuck!
I had clam chowder when I was in the pureed stage.. I took a strainer and strained out all the clams..
and I also did not dump on clam chowder until I ate at skippers at 6 months post op.. I had been craving skippers after living in the south for so long and I wanted their clam chowder sooooooooooooooooooo much..
that was almost a year ago now.. havn't been back!
take care
theresa
Hi Theresa!!
Thanks for the info!! Yes i am on pured food. If i don't have a blender handy i just try and chew chew chew and chew so more. (yes my jaw is tired!LOL) And i did not eat most of the clams. cause like u said they are to rubbery. And i was thinking owwwwww that might just be the thing to get caught. okey dokey thanks again. Lynette
Yup - I agree with Theresa...it's because it was liquidy. I can drink almost an unlimited amount of liquid myself because my pouch is larger and it just goes through so quickly. So I hardly notice a difference when drinking. Don't know how everyone else feels, but anything that is liquid just goes right through and feels "normal" to me.
