New to this website...........

Hello All, I am new to this website. I have been doing research the last month or so and feel that WLS is right for me. I know that my insurance will not pay as it has a specific exclusion for an weight loss procedure/sugery. So, since I will be self pay I want to find the best surgeon to do a laparoscopic gastric bypass (not banding) for the best price. I am willing to travel. Is this the best place to solicit reccomdations for surgeons/prices or is there another forum where I should do this? I will be posting this on the main message board also. Thank you, Kristy

Hi Kristy - You can ask that question anywhere as far as I'm aware. I went to Mexico and saw Dr. Aguirre. He only does the open RNY but he is an excellent surgeon and the cost for everything related to the surgery/hospital is $8500. Many folks form Oregon have been to see Dr. Aguirre, so if you want to chat one of us up, just ask and I'll point you in the right direction. As for lap rny, if you are still interested in Mexico, I have heard Dr. Ortiz in Tijuana does banding, but I'm thinking he also does rny. I have heard good things about him. How is the foggy Oregon Coast, btw? I miss the coast so much - I used to live in Curry County years ago. Dina
