Need primary care provider for Cigna/Intel POS who will refer me to a Surgon

I desperately need to change doctors, my Doctor keeps beating around the bush (for 10 years now of failed weight loss attempts) each failure I gain 20 or more pounds, I started out at 218 and now I am 315 pounds, I can't afford to suffer another set back, failure. After my appointment today he told me that he wants me to eat 2000 (2K) CALERIES A DAY and exercise 30 min. min. each day...I do that each day already and it's painful to walk , I am 5'9", and if I eat 2000 a day (to loose weight) but if eat that much I will balloon out. As it is I eat about 1800 daily as it is, and that is to maintain my current weight. I want the surgery, be fore I become like my father who has flibitous (blood clots in the legs) and diabetes runs on my mothers side all the women have it. I am starting to get the bulging veins in my legs, I am so deperate! Please help! I NEED A PRIMARY CARE PHYSICIAN WHO WILL HELLP ME GET SURGERY. Please. Madeline - I tried to respond to this earlier this morning but I got kicked off! Sorry it has taken so long to respond. I would not wait for replies and take the bull by the horns now. I'm way down in Medford so I can't help you with your dilemma except to say just start calling all the doctors in your areas (look for an internist maybe...) and ASK the receptionist if he has patients he has referred for this. Some may not be able to answer your question right away, but just leave your name and number and move on. You can always switch docs after the fact if you don't like them. Hi Madeline! That is my 6 year old daughters name! Anyway, I think I read in a post that there is a doctor at the Tigard Pacific Medical Group named Dr. Karen Murphy. She is supposed to be supportive of pre and post op WLS patients. I hope that is her name. The phone number for Pacific Medical Group in Tigard is 503-684-0475. Hey Melissa! That original post was from me! I've had Karen Murphy for over 10 years and absolutely adore her! She is writing up my letter, pretty much as we speak as my NP appt. is 5/28. I did refer someone....and she said she liked her too and thanked me. And then Karen thanked me for the referral when I went in week before last. Michele
