signs of Blood clots or DVT
You know I was reminded last night that it is so east to get Blood clots in your Legs.. so I just want to make sure that evenyone at least knows some of the things to look for..
for myself I had not had surgery in over a year.. I had a knot at the back of my calf right just below the knee..I had it for weeks.. by the time I found out what it really was I had blood clots in both my lungs.. and an 18 inch on on my leg..
when I read the Memorials. I see that many many of the people that died there had blood clots.. I hope you all forgive me.. I just want to make sure that everyone knows some of the signs..
so here goes
DVT Or Blood clots may occur without obvious symptoms and may be difficult to detect. Up to 50% of DVT(bloodclots) incidents may produce minimal symptoms or are completely "silent."
Contact your doctor if you notice:
Pain, tenderness, or sudden swelling in the leg
Discoloration or visibly large veins
Skin that is warm to the touch
Seek urgent medical help if you experience any of the following:
Shortness of breath
Rapid pulse
Excessive sweating or anxiety
Sharp chest pain
Coughing up blood
Dizziness or fainting
Diagnosing DVT
Because several other conditions, such as muscle strains, skin infections, and inflammation of superficial veins (phlebitis), display symptoms similar to DVT, the condition may be difficult to diagnose without doing specific imaging studies.
remember
You may get swelling, pain, tenderness and redness especially at the back of the leg below the knee. This is different from the mild ankle swelling that many people get during long haul flights and DVT usually - though not always - affects only one leg.
Please people even if it is a false alarm.. if you get any of these symtoms run do not walk to the emergency room or your Doctors office. it can save a life.. I know I am living breathing proof that you can survive.. and I wasn't even aware of any of the symptoms..Ijust couldn't breath... and had that pain in the back of the leg.. just right below the knee
